Hi people this is my first post here, seems like a great sight with many positive threads and useful information, anyways hello to all of you.

I have a collection of Mp3's (all sorts of stuff) and would be interested swapping with others here if anyone is interested. NOTHING COPYRIGHTED OF COURSE.........

I would particularly be interested in hard trance, hard dance, hardcore, progressive trance and similar styles but i like to listen to most music and its always good to get exposure to new stuff.

As you don't know me and so you know i am genuine i will burn to DVD and post first, when it arrives if you burn some of what you have and post to me. 2 or 3 DVD's per exchange with say approx 4.5 gig on each should provide you with over 10 gig of new stuff to have a listen to.

Well, the offer is there to anyone interested. Send me a PM and i'll get back in contact with you.

PLEASE, if you send me a PM and i dont respond immediately dont think i have ignored you. Its a busy time of year and my spare time is limited but i will do my best, it also depends on how many responses i get........sure you understand.

Not at all Mr S,

I clearly stated that "NOTHING COPYRIGHTED OF COURSE........."

Either you do not understand English or you have misread my post?

Mr Sr
so what music is this that isn't copyrighted? Is this a bunch of music that is not signed to labels? Please enlighten me with the "nothing copyrighted" claim and how do you know it isn't originally copyrighted?
~Em~r
all releases are copyrighted aren't they? and unreleased tunes are always not allowed to be given out or swapped without the producers consent.

I call bullshit!!!

Em, i never mentioned anything about swapping unreleased tunes or swapping any material without the producers consent.

I should clarify again so it is crystal clear, i stated "NOTHING COPYRIGHTED OF COURSE........."

Copyright does not apply to any recordings made from radio or a download from the internet of a radio broadcast.

For further reading and education i recommend that you visit these sites

http://www.copyright.org.au/information/sp...erest/music.htm

http://www.apra.com.au/general/about_us-copyright.asp

JW

And,

Further to the point, for DJs

Unless you own copyright in the material you wish to copy, or the copyright has expired, you will need permission to copy music from vinyl records to CD to use as a DJ.

In 2003, several DJs were found to have infringed copyright when they remixed sound recordings, manufactured CDs of the remixed versions and offered them for sale, all without the permission of the recording companies as exclusive licensee of the copyright material.
You may be able to get a licence from the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) allowing you to transfer music into different formats. For more information, see http://www.apra.com.au/musicusers/
making_records/tranferring_music.asp.
See our information sheet Music: DJs, available at http://www.copyright.org.au/music.

So with that in mind, Mr S, i do hope you are abidding by the law with your mixing?

Hmmmmmmmmm........................
Mr Sr

man i havent lol'd so much at a thread in ages

as far as i know our friend Mr S only mixes on vinyl so im prety sure he abides by the law on that one

as for the copyright not applying to recordings made from radio... thats coz it is ileagal to record from the radio in the first place
overdoser
Jessica, I'm sorry to say that it does. People who play music on radios have to pay the author to play them, that's how they make their living.

I do use some CD's but it's usually tunes that the producers themselves or labels have sent me that are not yet released
Elektro Kittenr
as i've studied copyright law at uni...

copyright of tunes has been automatic in Australia since 1950's. You dont have to have 'registered' it with Apra/amcos to have such rights.

So the more correct term would be unsigned or unreleased tracks... not tracks not in copyright winksmiley02.gif

hope that helps smile.gif try to be nice guys Jess is only offering something she wants to share

Go to this link, which by the way is the Australian Copyright Council
http://www.copyright.org.au/information/sp...erest/music.htm

Go to "on music', then go to 'Music:copying Mp3's, CD's & audio cassettes'

Open the PDF document supplied, its a fact sheet

Go to the following
Copying recorded broadcasts and podcasts
The new provision does not apply to:
• a recording from radio or TV (even if made under the new time-shift exception); or
• a download from the internet of a radio broadcast (such as a podcast of an ABC program).

Feel free to apologise when you are ready and acknowledge you are incorrect!

For anyone else who wants to criticise me without reason, you need to reread my first post, it clearly says, NO COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL.

Not sure what you don't understand about that statement?

There is nothing wrong with swapping Mp3 files so long as it is lawful!

the recording from teevee and radio rule only applies when there is no other copyright on the particular article, like radio chatter between presenters. choons played on the radio are already covered by copyright under a different area which supercedes this act.
