I've got 3g 40gig iPod smile.gif have it about 18 months and it's still going strong... I love that it's a firewire drive also so I can just move files from machine to machine when ever I like!!

Attached Image

Cost $950 when I got it... now I could get a 60gig iPod Photo only $650

What does everyone else have...

I'm the king of toys, but in this instance I went for a 256k pen style player. Size, battery life, and lack of stress if it gets trashed were key factors cos I bought it for when I ride my bike

Boring huh? I'll make up for it when I buy my next toy LOL

I've been toying with the idea of getting an ipod mini... coz I'd only want it for listening to music. they hold 1000 songs - and they are only $300 and you get get them in PINK!!!!!!

anyone know what the battery life on these are??

awesome little device, don't know how the hell i'd transfer all my work between home and TAFE without it, and firewire is sooo fast mmmm wink.gif

I have a better option. An iPod fits the definition of a PDA (internal power source, stores contacts, calendar etc) and therefore is available on salary sacrafice. Its a shit PDA compared to a Windows or Palm jobby but nevertheless it still is one.

hrrm, not an ipod person, too back to basics for me i think...
for me, i bought a funklaiokongwashindookawa brand ( i made that name up...) mp3 player from mrgadget.com.au. was $200.
only has 256mb internal but u can insert SD cards, up to 1gig, i have like 5 memory cards so works out good, but the clincher for me was Line-In recording, meaning i can record my own sets. records straight to mp3. love it heaps!

well, not only are ipods the ducksnuts, but they also will save your hearing in the event of a bomb blast on the tube, as the young aussie lass found out, when she was the only one to emerge from one of the carriages that bore the brunt of the recent bombs in london with her hearing intact.....why? because she was listening to her ipod, and the earphones saved her hearing.

I don't have any MP3 player yet. I'm not even sure my old tangerine mac will support iTunes. But my uvver half has got a PC and Windows Media Player with tuns of choons. I'm thinking of buying a player as a pressie, but I've been told that Media Player is staying (you can love 'em, but you can't make 'em change their platform). So what's the best alternative?

Got sick of rummaging around for discs when I can just have a device which fits thousands of discs worth of music!

Quick tip, if you have had your iPod as long as I have, over a year and have abused the shit out of it, if it is a PC formatted iPod, Defragment the HDD, it'll make it perform a hell of a lot better!

i farted around with alot of flash players (the small stick-like mp3 players for those tech-challenged folks) over the last year or two and loved the small size and light weight, but recently upgraded to an ipod mini 4gb and won't be going back to flash memory.

my (green) ipod is light, has great battery life and sounds brilliant, and on top of all that currently has 666 tunes on it! all hi quality straight from my years of collecting and into my hip pocket.

go the ipod, but watch out for the new walkmans ...

i just got me a sony ericson k750i, has a wikid mp3 player interface, takes memory stix, getting a 1 gig card (2gig out soon), acts as a removable h.d.
ordered a thing for it so it has RCA plugs out, to use on a home stereo, car audio etc etc.

it also has 2mp camera and all this other garble.
a good alternative.

I had a Creative Zen. Despite lots of ppl telling me they were awesome... I went through 3 of them before I finally asked for my money back and got my mum a christmas present with it, and got myself a little 512 meg iPod shuffle. To be honest, I love the little pice of tenchnological crap. The fact that the software is causing me to have grey hair, and that it decides to not want to work from time to time, I still love it... it has character LOL. I named it "Glitchy" tongue.gif. Not really, but you laughed... no? Ok fine, grow a sense of humour. tongue.gif

I cant go anywhere without my music, so I always have it on me.

Wouldnt mind a 60 gig video i Pod though.

I've got a Creative Zen 20GB player. Its old but its good as a portable harddrive. Thinking of modding it to a 80GB coz I can.

I've heard only good things about those. I got one, 2 days later the heaphone jack broke... Got another, The battery was faulty... got another, and the screen fucked up. All within a week. LOL. And I treat my toys with respect.

OK I've got an Ipod shuffle (I know, lame, only 512 meg... it does the job!)

Now a friend was telling me about an FM attachment thing you can get, so you can tune any radio, car or home, into the ipod and play it.

I'm interested in getting one.

But...

need to know a: if they work on a shuffle
and b: what are they actually called (so I can hit up ebay biggrin.gif )

Thats so true. The only thing thats broken with my Zen is the radio attachment thingy. For some wierd reason the wire things broken and I cant replace it. So its been almost a year that I've gone without listening to Fresh and any other station for that matter. sad.gif
