Many of us enjoy a good glass (or bottle tongue.gif ) of wine... Recommend a good wine for all of us to try...

Here are some from me:

Jamieson's Run - O'Deas Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2000 - a delightful red wine (a few anthems members have tried this and enjoyed it biggrin.gif )

Stevens Brook Estate - Pretty in Pink 2004 (Echuca, Victoria) - a white wine with a slight passionfruit flavour, good for a BBQ.

I look forward to reading and trying your recommendations. biggrin.gif

I love my reds.. Shiraz my personal fav, but a nice cab sav or a merlot is a treat also.. depends on the meal I say.. will never have red with a fish dish, a nice chardonay for that smile.gif
Oldskoolie
Id have to say im keen for a good red! But i dont mind a white from time to time depending on the meal, weather, or situation.

Favourites of mine are as follows:

Henschke - Mt. Edelstone - Any vintage - Not cheap!!! (in the hundreds - but pure gold)
Henschke - Abbotts Prayer - 1998 or 1999 - I have some of this in my collection - optimum drinking year 2008 - AWSOME RED
Henschke - Keyenton Estate - 1999 - 2000 - this is the cheaper of the 3 in my list but still around the $40 mark at the bottle shop - nice drop for a dinner party
Rockford - Alicante - I like it lots
Chain of Ponds - Novello Rosso - Not quite as refined as the Alicante, but very close.
and many many more......

If you are serious about your wine and like exceptional brews visit Henschke's Cellar Door (not open weekends) or order online http://www.henschke.com.au , Delivered and insured by Australia Post.

Wine tour anyone?
letmeteachyou
Oldskoolie, a few of us were talking about organising a wine tour - most likely chauffeur driven so we dont have to drive. Would be an interesting day to say the least biggrin.gif

"Paul!! We need a yellow anthems limo!!! Can we please borrow some $$$ out of petty cash to buy one"

like a good drop occasionally.
dad bought me up to appreciate a good red - i.e always down mclaren or barossa tasting/buying.

been getting fantastic bargains of late, a mate works for lion nathan and has alot of cancelled orderes that they move for cheap.
for example, recent pickups:
Tim Knapestien Merlot - 1999, retail $37 a bottle - got a dozen for $60
Bridgewate Mill Shiraz - 2000, retail $30 a bottle - a dozen for $50.

Marjella Shiraz - harder to find stuff, 98 shriraz, $70 a dozen.
trying to get a cellar happening but i keep drinking the stuff!

keen as horseradish for a wine day!!!!

I got into wines because my ex father in law is a winemaker, he has won lots of awards etc.
He works at Ballast Stone Estate wines these days.

A wine tour sounds like a fab idea.

Had a nice Clare Valley cab sav the other day. Nocturne by Claymore Wines. We've been getting them on bartercard, which is the best.... no cash.

I love red wine. Hate the telltale red ring on my lips afterwards though. tongue.gif

MMM wine, my favourite drink....have 2 say im a big port (drink, not just football lol) fan 2...

Absolute fav. brand/label is rockford, such a small little winery in the barossa but I have not tried anything from there and not enjoyed it! I love I love I love the chocolate port u can get from one of the wineries up there 2....name evades me currently.
A trip 2 Wolfblass turned me in2 a white wine fan as I only ever used 2 drink reds smile.gif

aint nothin like a selection of red wines and a fruit/cheese platter 2 make me happy wink.gif
Mayday
I have a 1989 bottle of Rockfords Basket Press Shiraz in my rack.

End of Post.

The wine limo tour was discussed at the hardc0re table at the team anthems dinner. Dunno if you others are hardcore enough to keep up with us. Only our table r0cked enough to stay to the end tongue.gif

We need to organise this I reckon smile.gif

OI!!! I'm hardcore! I stayed til the end! I wanna come sad.gif

Yeah, we know you're hardc0re, but we just love to generalsie and tar people with the same brush. Most of the others at your table left before even 1 person from our table, so it's just easy for us to call all of you soft tongue.gif

Oh, and calling others soft makes us feel less insecure about our own inadequacies laugh.gif

I had something more like a small white minibus in mind with "CAUTION" across the back. The supposed HARDCORE table would feel right at home then with there window licking and helmets on.

I wonder what the "LIVING IN ACTUAL REALITY TABLE" that i was sitting on would hire for such an event..... Segways perhaps?

laugh.gif

Got a dozen of each in storage

2002 Mitchell Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz
2001 Stonehaven Stepping Stone Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvugnon

Looking to open them in a few years smile.gif

I reckon you guys would go on the yellow school busses that can barely move tongue.gif laugh.gif
Davinr
OK then, does someone want to take charge of this and look into the pricing/availability/options for a limmo or bus tour? Leanne... anyone else?

More social outings with the team can't be a bad thing...can it? huh.gif

Caution = because we are the hardcore group
Licking windows = because we spilt our glasses of wine from the drivers bad driving (must be a rice boy driver tongue.gif )
Helmets= because we are hardcore and will be smashed from drinking incredible amounts of red wine so we will need the helmets to prevent serious injury when falling over drunk

Think that explains it all biggrin.gif

Im more than happy to look into this and set something up... will probably just do a mini bus tour and if that goes well, we can organise a tour on a much larger scale.

Thinking sometime in September as there are events coming up before and would be a good get-together after anthems at the Ark... maybe September 11 (good way to spend my birthday tongue.gif )

Will let everyone know asap....

Go the hardcore table

Dunno about that 8:30am start. Might have to get warmed up with a night in town saturday night, and stagger straight out of the club and over to the bus station sunday morning, then on to sloshfest 2005 all day smile.gif

Would a saturday tour suit more people maybe? I'm easy either way
fo_sho_manr
better start saving for this one I think..
letmeteachyour
Saturday would probably be a much better option....

Will chat to Em to find out when she has/hasnt got Jordan for the weekend and then we can work out a date....

Good to see some interest in this biggrin.gif
SpecialKr
Hmm 11th of sept is my Dad's 50th so I prob wont be able to make that weekend either.

Otherwise Im def up 4 it biggrin.gif ...not sure if Kym would go since he doesn't drink, but maybe he could come film us all and make a collection of "anthems team on tour" LOL wink.gif
letmeteachyour
We will have to change that date... not sure when yet as there seems to be a lot happening in the next 2 or so months... maybe end October, beginning of November.....
tangent23r
hey i'd be up for this!

i've always wanted to do a tour but never really found the right group of people to go with..wink.gif

planning for sept is a bit further ahead than i can usually forsee but when there's a definite date i'll make the effort to sort it out ;D
tangent23r
oh yeah.. speaking of wine, i like to drink it but don't know much about it.. my partner and her friends all love the rockfords alicante [good ol travpak] , she had the basket press for her bday last year but i didn't get any sad.gif
