fo_sho_man6 Jul 2005, 1:01am

thankyou thankyou thankyou..

goodbye download quota and hard disk space, welcome tunes..

Davin6 Jul 2005, 2:03am

Download quota you say..... already slurped down 15GB in the first 5 days of this month....and you say more!

Goodbye storage space you say..... I just upgraded my fileserver to over 700GB of drive space. Guess I better see if I can spare the cash to bump that to the magic 1 terrabyte mark

oh crap, I've become a slave to my file storage

Decepticon6 Jul 2005, 2:18am

can you download these? or do they just stream from an internet radio deal?

i keep clicking and i keep getting streams. i want to save to desktop

Davin6 Jul 2005, 2:22am

Yeah, I just went to download with no luck. It's a streaming server....but a f*kin beefy one at that! If the stats it's generating are legit, it's a 2.4GHz P4 with over 500GB of full drive space, pushing 100Mb outbound data!?!?!?!?

Only in the US would anyone devote that much bandwidth to something that's free LOL

fo_sho_man6 Jul 2005, 2:37am

its simple
use winamp and change the output to the disk writer and it will write it as an MP3 to your hard drive

Decepticon6 Jul 2005, 3:05am

thanks. that is a hell of a lot easier then researching and downloading these streambox rippers and what not. working a treat.

fo_sho_man6 Jul 2005, 2:15pm

love winamp, so useful and so free

foonji6 Jul 2005, 2:38pm

or you can right click on them and save the .m3u file (a playlist file), then open the file in notepad/wordpad/word/any text editor and get the url to the mp3 file and download it

or to make it easier, download the 'play all songs' m3u and get all the links for the mp3's in that section in one go

*try not to use notepad in this case, use wordpad atleast, then all the urls will be formatted out nicely for easy copy n' paste

text editor beats winamp anyday

and wget am teh bomb

Decepticon6 Jul 2005, 3:37pm

when i do your method Foonji i am redirected to http://www.winamp.com/player/faq/

I have been using Fo Sho's method which i have found effective. Rips to HD as a .wav, yes i know a 1 gig file

I have then found a handy wav to mp3 converter to convert it back and no dramas.

process is a lengthy one though. couple hours a set.

no doubt theres a plugin for winamp to rip directly to mp3... maybe i should look or one

foonji6 Jul 2005, 3:58pm

ahuh! yeah it will re-direct, cos thats there to deter leechers.

but can easily get around that by using a download manager/wget/similar program which can set the user-agent as winamp, then it won't redirect

CODE

C:\download>wget -c --user-agent=Winamp -i edna.m3u
