Anyone downloaded earth google?

for those of you that dont no its a program brought out by google that uses satellite images to construct earth.......

at first ya just got earth whacked in the middle of the screen but then u can zoom in to astronomical propotions!!!! so much so that even cars are clearly visable. the image quality is amazing.

I found myself playing around for hours on it locating such places as the aftermath of the world trade centres, effiel tower, disney world and so on.

they have even started adding 3d terrian to it so u can change angles and go through the grand canyon!!!

there many options u can turn on such as Hotels, Parks, Dining places, and so on that marks the areas on the map! on a down side not all areas are coverd .... like my house for example! im wondering if you gotta pay for full version or its not up yet.

p.s its not live footage!

this program is the cows udder.

try out http://moon.google.com/ and zoom in all the way (move vertical slider all the way up to the + sign) to see what the moon is made of . . . appears the google guys have a sense of humour!
fo_sho_man
earth google is cool, but alot of the maps are 2-3 yrs old.. still good to look at..

its extremely addictive stuff...
dangerous at work thats for sure!
PaulHamon
it's awesome... I can see both my houses, down to the tree in the front yard and the sheds in the back... sweet!
EpharGy

Theres also mars and moon versions wink.gif

Some other excellent places which look really cool

Alcatraz
Golden Gate Bridge
Grand Canyon
Arc De Triumph
Statue Of Liberty
USS Arizona (Hawaii)
Lords
Ayers Rock

yeah, this is coming from the guy who thought biting off his toenails was more exciting when I first told you about it....till you actually started using it LOL laugh.gif

We actually noticed that many areas of sydney and melbourne are covered is less resolution than adelaide...weird
foonji
yeah, they don't have hi-res images of my area mad.gif

but good old www.ausimage.com did when that was around. < was a html based version of google earth but only of australia.

i think they went bankrupt with the amount of bandwidth that they used, and thats why they ain't around today. luckily i saved some images of my place biggrin.gif

Is that Sabby the anthems wondercat lazing about on the porch?
or maybe its just a big shoe? huh.gif

foonji
i think thats a big shoe, sabby i don't think we had sabby when this shot was taken (bout 5 years ago) if she was she was mighty small.
Decepticon
fo_sho how do you no images are 2 / 3 years old?

i was also under the same impression but i have been told the images are refreshed every time satillite pases over area. maybe this is for Google Earth Pro.
EpharGy
No Google earth Pro uses the same Fusion (I think thats what its called) database, as which Keyhole used to use.

Most images ive seen are between 2years-6months old.

The amount of data for high res passes to be updated on each satellite pass would be fucking huge.
miney
i heard google earth pro is actually live filming. That'd b great but it's about 300 buks ohmy.gif
Decepticon
theres a 7 day free trail. and also its not live. we wish

miney

heard on the radio these style of sights have been requested to remove such sights of sencitive nature such as parliment house and the lucas hights nuclear reactor in sydney due to possible terrorist use...
