My first experience hacking a computers system was in 1987... I had re-written the loggin software for the pool of BBC computers (about 30 or so) at school... So 5 minutes before the start of class, I logged into my account on all the machine in the room, and ran the software. It looked just like the real thing.. basically because it was except for 3-4 lines of code... These extra lines of code... saved the username and password of the person loggin into a directory in my account... and then when on its merry way loggin the person into there account!
I was mightly proud of this script... of course I didn't tell anyone... the only difference was it took about 1.5 second longer to login but no-one noticed, it was my major concern about getting found out. The second concern was if someone escaped out of the login software they would find themselves in my account which would have given it away obviously.
Anyway... within 10 minutes I had every students username and password saved in my account, plus as an added bonus I had the teachers accounts, and not just any account, but a SUPERUSER account! I had obtained the head of the computer departments username and password.
I sat on these details for a couple of weeks, wandering around peoples account and having a look at anything they might have had of interest, but it was all very boring . Finally I took the plunge and logged into the SUPERUSER account... this gave total access of everything and even the power to create more SUPERUSERS... *rub hands together excitedly*
As not to get found out... I used a students account that I did not like... I logged into this account normally as to not raise suspicion... then into the teachers account, once in there I gave that student SUPERUSER privilages... looking like he had done it to his own account.
I pretty much did whatever I want from that account of a few weeks before HE was caught doing things he should not have been doing... He had the most 'I am innocent' look on his face, almost believable (wonder why)....
Anyway.. he was the class bully and I enjoyed watching him getting marched out of the COMPUTER classes not to return for the rest of the term. I guess he would have been happy to, he used to have trouble turning them on, I cannot believe the teacher thought he had the smarts to pull it off.
Ahh good days...
