hope this is ok with everyone. i talked to paul about suitable dates. didint want it too far off or too close to enchantted or harder tip or on a previous events night..

there is a pavillion and trestle tables and we are allowed to set up some decks annd speakers if we wish. there is small chance that there will be anyone after us. NO ALCOHOL during race. and prefereable not drinking before hand. a few cold drinks afterwards are permissable.

Please arrive at 7:45pm to fill out paper work and get things organised.

Hey folks,

Well after i went karting a week or so ago a few members on here expressed interest in maybe arranging a GO Kart night.

So after talkn to Paul H the man himself, ive got the go ahead to spark up some interest and plan out a night.

The proposal is for a ENDURANCE race based upon 10 teams/30 drivers, compete over 180 laps in total taking about 1:45mins to complete. Each driver is in the kart for 20 laps at a time. A pit stop in the window of LAPS 19-21 ({Penalties apply for late or early pitstops}) is used to bring in your driver and swap ur next driver into the kart. 20 laps later, the pit stop once again changes driver this continues thru out the course of the race till 180laps are completed.

The cost of this is $42 per driver.

The location would be RICHMOND KARTMANIA on DEACON avenue in RICHMOND near Cafe De`Villes. There is a viewing area, and also a marqueee that a BBQ could be set up under for before/after nibbles drinks. also an area that a sound system could be used in.

Date to be advised. I will be going in wednesday to see if theres any extra charge for the BBQ and marquee area. also to check out advanced bookings.

this is great fun and very exciting. so lets get some numbers cranked and some teams formed!!!!

i agree with DAvin. i weight in around 87.. may not be as fast down the stright but i hold good corner speed. and also when push comes to shove.. i keep on moving

, oh btw weight has nothing to do with winning in go karting, it's all about finness knowing hard hard you hit some1 without stalling your engine Haha

Track is larger, staff is cooler

Saturdays are booked up well into December though

gepps cross track sucks for racing, uneven surfaces from polished concrete to ruff concrete to ashfelt/bitumen. its a poorly maintained track. the karts are also below par in comparison to the richmond track.

richmond has the advantage of being close to the city, also close to Villies for an after race sit down and chat/pie/pasty/chilli dog!

the Richmond kartmania has the laser skermish upstairs aswell if peopel want to play. ill ask them wat sort of deal we can do for that aswell.

ive organised about 15 events at richmond kartmania and find the staff more than helpful and very freidnly.

The large difference between Richmond and Gepps Cross (which people always comment on), is the fact that Gepps Cross track goes outdoors. When it's outdoors you don't go under the bridge - when it's indoors it's more of a figure 8 and you need to go under the bridge to make it work (which does suck, because only one at a time can make it through there alive).

As far as karts go between the place, they're much of a muchness. Ask a manager at either place whose karts are better and I bet they'll be very generic and put no real definitive argument about why their karts are better.

They both buy from the same manufacturer after-all. Any bad luck with karts (happens every once in a while) is just as likely to happen at either place as well.

.. and damn, I had no idea when I posted in this topic I'd end up writing something this large, heh.

the fact gepps cross charge BY THE MINUTE as oppsoed to laps has always put me off. as if u get one or two idiots who cant drive stuffing up then u spend 5 minutes on yellow flags wasting ur time. events such as this would be different set up. but as i said above ive held many successful nights at Richmond for various groups of people that i organise these for and i find John and marcus and shane and the rest of the lads down there quiet open and easy to work with. I'd rather work with people i know than with strangers.

this will be the largest event ive done usually i organise grand prix, double grand prix, or 20 person endurance events. so for ease of communication and organisation it will be held at Richmond.

and I totally agree with with FO_SHo about track being below par. ive raced there in the out door sections aswell as indoors. the polished concrete after thebridge and the uneven slabs donthelp for control or steering. over steer and stall is a huge issue as is heavily applied brakes sliding into other karts.

its a great lay out. shame it's such poor condition. as for the karts??? well.. lets say i wouldnt employ anyone there to look after a small engine if i owned one. bent steering rods bald tyres down to the belts brakes that dont exist loose cables for both brakes and acelerators, snapped cables. lose spark plugs. spuilt fuel. ive had the lot while out there.

i used to organise groups of mates just doing stuff areoun 10-20 minute sessions. we soon realised for competative racing Richmond was the only place to go. controlled surface less brake downs better conditions over all.

enuff debate of where its not going to be.. and more names that are keen for a nights fun and entertainment.

Jutsin, I am aware of that track layout for both dry/summer and wet/winter days. I like the size of the outdoor section, don't get me wrong, but if it was smoother, it would be more enjoyable I think. also having nice karts would also add to the enjoyment..

hope this is ok with everyone. i talked to paul about suitable dates. didint want it too far off or too close to enchantted or harder tip or on a previous events night..

there is a pavillion and trestle tables and we are allowed to set up some decks annd speakers if we wish. there is small chance that there will be anyone after us. NO ALCOHOL during race. and prefereable not drinking before hand. a few cold drinks afterwards are permissable.

please arrive at 6:45pm to fill out paper work and get things organised.

30-40 sec per lap usually. if i remember correctly, the fastest lap times are between 30-32 sec, tho i'm sure you'll be resetting those benchmarks yourself smp!

date change was due to mypossible pulling out due to work announcing our christmass show would be on the 19th of November. i do apologise for the hassles. id have still organised it for the 19th but woudlnt of been able to show up myself. discussion with kartmania showed the previous saturday was booked. and talk with paul. we decided not to make it the one after as too close to ENchanted forest. the 12th was available. its after bowling but far enuff before ENCHANTED to not make a huge dent in peoples money...

i hope this doesnt put out people too much

Ummmm, at adelaide fastkarts, when you have your foot all the way down, if you then twist your foot onto the cable you can pull it futher opening the carby to fully open if you know what i mean. cause under the accelerator there is a governing bolt wich doesnt let the carby go to full throttle.

yes i took the liberty to confirm you three as Team Goon members...

now all you three have to do is work out who will start/finish the race... its 20 laps per driver then driver change... 60 laps each driver. 3rd driver to start is last driver to finish the race.. so there is tactics

yeah 25 laps is $18 or so i think... i havnt got latest prices.. its just a 25 lap srpint... u race till the last person has done 25 laps.. i can usually get 31/32 laps in by time slowest person has finihsed...

hahah foonjmiester! belive me.. with the dirving displayed last time... id serious wonder how some people attained licences...

the endurance races are ran as teams.. 180 laps between 30.. 20 lap driver changes. well it was at richmond.. im still yet to nut out details for this event.

tryn to work out wats going on with pain balling and pauls going away etc....
