Top Gear

for all you rev heads, Top Gear will be on SBS next monday, 7:30 pm.. I'll be stuck to the TV then, for sure.. if you haven't seen it, check it out, top show.. british show, but top quality cars..

ahh, i love that show, it taught me that you have to be doing something like 250kph before you can outrun a speed camera...

if you've got a good connection it's also streamed on winamp :)

i just like it hw they test cool cars and stuff.

if you've got winamp, goto the media library and select Shoutcast TV, then use the search bar for 'top gear' and bobs ya uncle..

btw the TV section has great live electronica sets

heh i didnt even kno about this thread. but i did watch that show last night! :) was good, i ddnt get bored, cept wen they wer talkin shit about i dnt reali kno wat for ten minutes, until thhey rememberd he made a bet to eat his hair if he lost, and he did, so they made him eat his hair! :P rofl.. and they wer paying out porche :D i dnt reali think porche are very good ... and they thawt the aussie car was the best.... :) i HAVE seen beta car show stuff, but this was a bit random.. wasnt really ABOUT anything in particular....

I watched a program called drive today on channel 10 I think.. so similar to top gear.. was on at 4:00pm and will be on next week.. have a look..

I love top gear, became addicted in the uk, and have seen every episode from 04 up to the last one of 05 (the Clarkson in a GT4 NSX around laguna seca v. Clarkson in a real NSX around laguna seca is brilliant), i suggest everyone who has even the faintest interest in cars, or kinda unscripted comedy check it out, its great.

then straight after that on foxtel is 5th gear - a similar show - more dedicated to thrashing the titties out of sweeeet cars..

quality- between that and the cooking / food channel, its all i really watch..

fifth gear is great, but they do stuff like *best after-market sat nav*, or *best fuel*. Tiff Needle and Jason Plato are incredible drivers, and amazing to watch, but some of the things they do just draaaaaaaggggs on.

But still, there is nothing like watching Tiff do those HUGE powerslides in some of the best cars money can buy (but i guess thats the experience that comes with all of those Le Mans races :) )

done it lots of times onroad and offroad, several anthemites have been for a thrill ride with me.. they loved everybit off it, came out covered in mud and a few bruises

Apparently it had an Evo3 racing a Lamborghini.

I would really like to get my hands on a copy of that if anyone has it.....

That would be awesome to see, you’d think it’d do a bit of damage to the road though, and the bruises would definitely be worth it for the time good time

Ive got one scattered, it has an evo 8 frq-400 v. a lambo murcielago, to see if a 4 door super saloon could be as quick as a supercar. Ill give you a copy some time.

nah, the track has 'track pads' on it, rubber pads that lift it up, so the steel strack doesn't contact the bitumen, so when on roads ya don't tear em up

thats pretty nuts dude. there is an episode of top gear where they pit a range rover sport vs. a challenger (i think) tank in a cross country raceish thing where the sport had to cross the course without the tank being able 'lock on' to it, pretty good.

All I can say is Bit Torrents

5th gear and Top Gear are easy to get on the torrents. Torrentspy even have a directory for each one. I've got bucketloads of them and download them within days of them going to air in the uk.

Oh and as for Tiff's driving.... F*@K me! That man knows how to drive like he stole it

It was a highly worked British Mitsu Evo 8 which raced a Gallardo.

Meh. This particular turbo 4wd has an unworkable clutch, suspension that will break your spine, and turbo lag that falls off boost too easily and turns the car into a cripple.

All the things that make an Evo8 FQ400 absolutely and awesome piece of machinery... I want one... just a bit faster than my Evo2 I reckon

I'll stick with my perfectly balanced rear wheel drive with linear power curve, and leave the AWD boost cruiser to you then ;-)

id love to meet someone who owns one of those as an everyday car, as it would be about as practical as an elephant. Nothing...nothing...stall...nothing.....POWER...into the back of the car in front.... Oh its a viscous cycle...

The RX-7 used to be my favourite sports car. Brilliant handling, good speed, and it looked amazing.

I was annoyed when the rx-8 was released at the expense of the rx-7, as i didnt like the look of it as much, but now ive seen them around more and more, i dont mind them. Still dont like them as much as a jet black RX-7 running on 16in Enkei ES-Tarmacs....*drool*

The Rx7 died because it outpriced itself. It was at a similar price range to euro sport cars near the end, but the people with the cash to spend on those sorts of cars wouldn't lower themselves to buy Japanese. The rx7 FD was a supreme car, but an economic failure that killed the line.

The RX8 was not released at the expense of the rx7, it was released as a saviour to the rotary engine.

It just so happens that the engine , normally aspirated, is as powerful as the twin sequential turbo 13B-REW (s8 rx7) was. Some of the power results from supercharging the RENESIS are remarkable.

The RX8 also handles as well, with superior comfort and ride, and brakes better than the FD.

Looks - arguable. The FD was beautiful.

I've had my rx8 since they were released in August 2003, have replaced the exhaust with a 3.5" stainless system (twin JUN-BL mufflers and a racing spiral resonator) and replaced the flywheel with the lightened Mazdaspeed one. I reckon conservatively is runs high 5s or 6 flat 0-100. It easily pulls away from stock rx8s in the hills.

I just love a 50/50 weight distribution rear wheel drive that revs to 9500 and gives such amazing tactile feedback through the twisties. Besides, if you look at the top gear lap times, the rx8 lapped at the same time as the BMW M3 (which is a low 5 second car)). Extrapolating from that would indicate that the rx8 handles significantly better than a sports coupe twice as expensive.

It's the reason that, while I immensely respect the turbo AWD EVOs and STIs, that I would never get one. The AWDs just don't give you that immersive driving experience.

Yes the RX8 is very sweet indeed...

But probably just as much as you love your car, I love mine! I was never into the turbo AWD scene, as my previous cars were tx3, worked sigma and VL turbo. But after having one, I dont know that i could ever buy a non turbo car again. I just luv the rush when it comes on boost and throws you back in the seat!!

But i will admit, Its almost time to sell it and buy something a little more less "police attracting".
I love the attention my car brings, just not from them. Although there isn't much left on it the can pick on me for. Tried to make them whilst keeping the things i love!!

The new series has just started in the U.K (the second episode has just been released)... Anyone else watching it?
