Almost brings a tear to the eye reading that list LOL

Seriously, how can you choose? So many fading memories of so many great nights in a lot of those venues. Each had a charm or attraction of its own.

Does anyone remeber the night the smoke machine jammed on for ages at State during Nigel's set....OMG...no one could see a foot in front of them for an hour laugh.gif

I so loved the Big Ticket and their test tube drinks.... we used to be the feral ones near the balcony who would drink our Quick Fucks and then smash the test tubes... omg... how embarassing!!! blink.gif

The Synagoge - before it was Church

That warehouse in Port Adelaide

Wherever Valley of Dreams was held (1999?)

Adelaide Uni (multi-levels)

The Shores

Old Queens Theatre

The Metro (in Melb)

Paul you missed out a big one, the Convention centre, I went to Bleep there & I reckon that this may have been my first major rave experience. It was massive

I got to say le Rox in light square was where i spent a lot of time. I saw the prodigy there but really dont remember very much of the night.

I always found Metro in rundle mall a little bit out of my league.

There was a place we used to go to on thursday nights I think called The club it was downstairs in Currie street near the CES offices.

Ahhh so many raves, so many memories mashed into one
PaulHamonr
Both Thursday night specials back in the day>>>

The Club at Currie Street Tavern...
Hell at The Grenfell Tunnel...

I don't remember The Prodigy playing at LeRox... The only rave a remember them at was MELDOWN at Synagogue/Masonic Centre. You sure?

One of my mates just reminded me of this. Was there ever a rave at Flinders Uni in 95 or 96 called Fareweather or Farewell? He said thats where I met him and some others. I seriously can't remember that far back. Let me know if its true or whether he's just taking the piss at my lack of/forgetful memory.

Personally, I used to love going to Big Ticket, Old Lions Art Centre and Synergy.

Ahh the good old days!

I wish i could relive these venues or nights you old timers went to, I've never been to any of the places listed although ive only been raving for 6 - 7 years.

I can only say ive been to Rush (wicked venue but hot as FUCK), Rise, Lerox (light square), Planet, St. Pauls, oh and ages ago "Karma" had a couple of nights at a wharehouse in pooraka, that was a wicked venue.

i think you mean shed 5 at the port. it was used during the fringe one year, and was a good venue, cept for what you mentioned - very sparse.

shed 10 is (was) in a working wharf area, so i am definitely certain that it was never ever used for a venue (portscorp would have never allowed it).
cheers

By far my favourite rave venue is the OLd Adelaide Gaol, especially the Cell Block

As for my favourite clubs there is a couple that stand out

Big Ticket

loved trying to walk around that joint, feet would get stuck to the floor

Choice @ the boat shed

I actually think i only went inside there once but i was there every week
- getting beaten up (mucking around) by Bof who was the bouncer

It was a popular past time to give poor old BOF shit all night LOL

Am i sure ????

Absolutely Not biggrin.gif

I thought they played one new years eve at Le ROX, when they opened the big downstairs section that was a pool hall for a while. But my recollection of that night is very vague for some reason and you are more than likely right

my fav venue was the tunnel thingy where system ad had his birthday. methinks it was called 21st century ad, but my memory, like my hair, is just a little too patchy blink.gif
mutleyr
does anyone remember about 12 or so years ago in breakers but it was called unity. does anyone remember that one that was so kewl. i went there when i was bout 14. otherwise the sticky floors at big ticket, lolleez. and then there was heaven i was a part of the furniture with all my family danny frank brian and whoever else we felt like corrupting. Hehehehehehe that was fun.
tangent23r
i always liked the clubs that you could walk around in circles in the one direction all night..le rox, arkaba..

my favourites would be le rox, metro, cargo [scott T + GT! as if you left cargo out paul!], Q, but then those were the places i started out at and went to a lot, so lots of memories..

i always liked the outdoor parties, the kookoo tribe ones [Mt Barker and ?] and i even went to one of those 'Smile' things wink.gif, the Adrave party at the park with the tunnel at Mt barker was cool too.. Lunatrance?

i liked the queens theatre when they had the dirty house parties, and recentish, i liked young st carpark, thought it was cool dancing in the open air in the middle of the city..

there was also control where max karaoke is now..

what was that place behind there that used to open late? was that the bb club?
nickdubr
i reckon that would have been the recovery sessions at ko'klub. the entry was up a stairway thru the back door.
i remember one particular morning mixing there for 3 hours, and dropping every underground resistance track that i owned, one after the other - i miss hearing punisher out.
tangent23r
that's right! ko klub!

BB Club was Club 69, Disco, Venus, etc, etc, etc... and before it was BB it was Regines (spl?) a massive gay nightclub.

The old adelaide jail...

how could any one not have mentioned that yet...

Memories!!!!
The Generalr
Well reading that list paul sure brought back memories
it even made me remember about a few places id forgotton i had even been too

loved the old lion and metro then later state with UZI & C4 on the decks
starting the night out with girley house happy tunes then moving on to the hard core
Of course one cant go past the birth place in adelaide The ARKABA
The Adelaide Gaol
Thanx once again for bringing back so many happy memories rolleyes.gif

PaulHamonr

How about the train access tunnel under Regency Road near Churchill Road...

I remeber a few hundred people dancing away one night with the sounds system on the back of a ute and the lights on top of it all powered by a generator...

Go PFG.

I reckon it was 97 when i went to Ultra Sonic at a warehouse in hindmarsh took my little brother for his first rave, the place wasn't packed but the enviroment was awsome up front and center.
As for other places that give me goose bumps
The main room at st Pauls many of different raves
the old days at Clubland 95-99 (spent way too much time there)

wasn't that a thebby theatre show??

i used to really enjoy the planet believe it or not!!! back when it used to be packed every sat night was so fun! plus i worked there as a bar tender at one stage! shame it went under! all it needed was for someone to put some money into it and it could of kept up with heaven i say! mellow.gif
Davinr
Planet had a serious reputation problem....badness in the toilets that should never happen anywhere...ever. Then there was the smell....wow ohmy.gif
TCBr
its not like many of the other clubs had a good reputation either really! blink.gif
each club has its own sets of circumstances! things people dont like! etc etc

but reputations can hurt businesses here in adelaide and i believe there arnt enough second chances.
djkarnager
big ticket was my fave. especially back in 94 on thursday nights when the IP boys played hardcore.
Saw DJ paul, scott brown low noise and theo there.
and to top it off joey beltram painted a wicked piece on the wall outside.
how cool was that!
tHe_r3alistr
awww, where's Traffic on that list, it's definately been one of the clubs along side the planet dat will still be remembered for a long time yet sad.gif

I honestly can't think of a club that had a reputation like Planet's. I was involved in the early days on a tech level, but it just got off to a bad start, and slowly went downhill from there. It's a pity, cos there's no room for 2 superclubs now, but Planet could have changed that.
TCBr
what about heaven?? heaven has a very bad reputation and i used to hear alot more people saying they will never go to heaven then then planet!!

I think the point of the list was old school clubs that are long gone now. While the building that was Traffic has also been many other clubs over the years, Traffic itself is a baby, only being around for a few years

Nick will shoot me for admitting it, but was a bit of a regular at Lennies ... I might feature in some of your dodgy stories...
Hey, when you lived down the bay it was very convenient, and CD used to run a night there which wasn't bad.

Who remembers when Traffic was Magoo's and always featured on every good bus tour?
