Saddest Song Lyrics

There's plenty of songs out there that are sad, what are some of your favourites? As in really emotional, especially the paragraph in bold. Some songs can really do it to ya.

Try and post the lyrics here if you know/can find them. Maybe say why it makes you sad/emotional.

One of mine I've been listening to at the moment, originally by Tracy Chapman but there has been a 2005 remix played alot on FreshFM:

Funniest post of the week.

As far as sad lyrics go - the chorus from 'I'll Be Missing You' by P Diddy used to make me feel a stab of sadness in my raver heart.

The Faith Evans part that goes:

i was talking to my friend the other day about pouty emo trance songs and we decided that the sound of goodbye had some pretty emo lyrics!

but as for other really emotional songs, i always thought telephone line by elo was pretty sad. same with always by bon jovi...such a classic bleeding heart rock ballad!

Always does that thing to me...

Then there are a couple songs that remind you of people you once knew so even though they might actually be a good song, you hate them and chuck the radio in the bath

i think its more that they giv u chills they make u feel closer 2 the evil in the world it kind of makes u hit home some hard truths about life

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd is the saddest song for me...always makes me cry....
very abstract lyrics, but such a moving song

I do not have the lyrics on hand, I can sing it in my head though but some of the lyrics in the verses I am unsure of

so I won't try and write them down in case I get them wrong...most of you will know the song anyway I reckon.

The chorus goes:

nickdub! I love that song! reading the words to One gave me the hugest flashbacks to the film clip that they used to show on rage that had the guy with no arms & legs strapped to a hospital bed...with bits & pieces from some movie-i wish i cld remember what the movie was-they had it in the credits only once-i wrote it down & its vanished

such a powerful song, made even more so by the clip. I've still got the tshirt from that song

Lots of songs i can think off, i'll go hunting for the lyrics... but the 1st song that comes to mind "Under the bridge" Knowing that at that time of that song Anthony Kiedis was at his lowest point with his addiction-the words take on a whole different meaning.. Never thought house wives & kids would be singing along to shooting up under a bridge...powerful & scary all at the same time

Metallica - The Memory Remains

Sitting here in one of my Brother's Metallica shirts also wearing his Metallica ring, I've always enjoyed Metallica but now more than ever I play this song. Everyone's sick of hearing it, lol, but they all understand the meaning behind it. I chose this song as the last song to play at my Brother's funeral. Firstly because he would've killed me if I hadn't have had Metallica played and secondly because his memory will always remain with me and in my heart.

the movie was titled "johnny got his gun" and starred Jason Robards as the father of the un-named soldier....from what i can gather it is relatively impossible to get hold of a copy, but if anyone happens to know where i can get my mittens on one, i would be eternally grateful.

bah,

I suppose we should all face it. Songwriters tend to be sad bastards at the best of times. It is easy to write a woe is me isn't life a bitch music. Finding a depressing song is like shooting fish in a barrell.

Probably half the reason I listen to techno is that I can make of a piece of music what I want, I don't have to inherit emotional baggage from somebody I've never met.

It's far harder to write happy , inspiring, lyrics ... which is why I like the other thread; likewise , it is probably half the reason I listen to house music. House music , D&B lyrics, dancehall etc. is all focussed on the positive and sexy side of life.

Currently been listening to A LOT of KISS... on of my favorite songs and quite a sad one is Beth.

The feelings it provokes every time i hear it is unsettling.. I've felt this way in a few relationships, and I'm sure a lot of other people have too.. you can't help but feel for Beth...
