Mark Spoon (real name Markus Löffel), known as one half of 'Jam & Spoon' who produced the unforgettable "Stella" and "Right In The Night" tracks in the early nineties, has been found dead in his Berlin home.

Major record company, Universal Music, was unable to provide further details about the circumstances of his death. However it was reported that Mark succumbed to a cardiac infarct (a type of heart attack) on January 10, sending a shockwave to fans around the world.

Jam & Spoon came to attention as pioneers of the early trance sound with the release "Stella", and in the mid-nineties found further fame with their remixes of Age Of Love's "The Age Of Love" (featured on Sasha and John Digweed's "Renaissance - The Mix Collection") and the Moby classic "Go".

We will keep you updated as we receive more detail but for the moment there are various postings on German based websites for those of you with an understanding of the Deutschland language.

I intereviewed him and Jam for "The Core" remember Paul? when they played Adelaide. I spent the whole afternoon with them. Mark was standoffish at first and it was Jam El Mar who was the talkative one in a bar at the hyatt during my interview the early afternoon before they played at Heaven. Slowly Mark warmed to me as he realised I wasn't a reporter, but a fellow producer, and then it all began to flow. That night I remember Mark embracing me and expressing how much he had enjoyed the afternoon and the interview and how it had made him feel more relaxed when he played and he was overwhelmed with the crowd's reaction. That was one of my personal favourite moments in dance music, but highlighted the fact that Adelaide knew how to look after it's dance music guests.

I will miss you Mark and the wonderful afterneen we spent talking shop
