It has come to my attention that my favorite imported beers

ARE NOT IMPORTED AT ALL !!!! ohmy.gif

so if you're out to dinner or at the bottlo and it reads imported beer and of course it costs more
ITS ALL BULLSHIT-A SHALLOW COPY BREWED AND BOTTLED IN AUST
what about cutting the price down -the freight costs
thats not as bad as the fact that it DONT TASTE THE SAME

I am appalled, its an abomination in the eyes of god, its a slap in the face
I will have to buy more local beers on principle
STELLA
HEINEKIN
EVEN TIGER BEER

brewed over here

damn you greedmongers, another of lifes pleasures corrupted mad.gif

wonder if the belgian beer house actually gets proper stella or the cheap australian version......... makes me wonder! blink.gif
DeL
u will find most imported alcohols are produced under licence here in aust.

Lion Nathan has a huge market share in many brands. look at most spirits aswell u will be surprised how many are 'bottled in aust" or brewed under licence.

generally speaking u are only paying premium price for the name. as in the country of origin it would probably be cheap beer.

look at coopers pale. we pay 34-38 a carton yet in melb a couple yrs ago i paid 47$ because it wasnt local market beer.

id prefer a good pale or Hertitage over a heini anyday...

sorry to dash ur hopes jase.. all u can do now is fire bomb their holding locations and ruin the dream for others tongue.gif

But not Heinekin... every country I have travelled thru has a Heinekin factory in it or in a nebouring cheaper-to-produce-in country!

Pure Blond is actually a very nice beer. its a low calorie beer, but still has a nice taste to it. had some last night! smile.gif

And i have to confess, Im a Pale Ale Boy, the bottles are great, but even they do not compare to nice fresh Pale Ale straight off Tap!

you might want to check the best before dates on the cartons.. having worked in bottleshops for quite a few years i can say that unless the manager has a REALLY good contact that can import reasonable quantities, the stock is probably quite old!!!

FYI, the "local" stuff isn't usually brewed here... it's brewed o/s and shipped here in large vats where it's carbonated and bottled!! same process they've been using for spirits for almost a decade (without the carbonation obviously) shiftyeyes_anim.gif

Good point on the out of date stuff, i'll have to check next time!

And when it says on the bottle "brewed and bottled in Australia under licence by the carlton brewery" does that mean it's brewed overseas? cos that would be false advertising then...

Another vote for Millers Genuine Draft.
Im not usually a fan of pussy weak American beer but after a hot day at work nothing kills it like a Miller.

Asahi is still fully imported but in Japan or where ever they brew it they have different brews for exported beer.
I cant drink Stellas these days anyway, they are rubbish.
Was at the Belgium beer join in Perth on the weekend and had a few Hoegardens and what not, loving the taste of that lately.

There is also a brewery here called Little Creatures, they do a decent pale ale, nothing like Coopers but its not bad. They also have a brew called Rogers Ale, I know they sell it at the Lion and they might have it at the Belgium there as they have it here but its really worth trying, i love it.
At the little creatures Brewery they have a bar/pub attached to it and they still charge you $7.50 for a brew! Crazy prices!!!!

millers is a great beer. people bash american beer like millers without actually tasting it. my boss tried one for the first time the other day!!! loved it and bought a carton.

i can also say that coke is now the australian distributor of millers so the stock will be fresher as more stock is being imported at a cheaper price for both coke and consumers. BWS has a deal with coke to sell millers for a special price of $40 every 3 or so weeks.

i just drank 2 after work and im now going to bed.

yeah i cranked a 6er tonight, it was $18 so cant complain too much
I heard about the Coke deal as well, hope they crank some specials over here.
Most pubs and clubs are starting to stock it now as well.
TCB
its good. i was hoping north american beer would become popular eventually. but they need to start importing more canadian beer as it shits all over american beer.

i know dan murphys and a few other places sell Kokanee which is from vancouver, british columbia but its $77 a carton when it should be along the same price as millers really.

i miss the beer over there. molsen, labatts, alexander kieths, sleemans, fort garry, moosehead, bigrock wub.gif thumbsupsmiley.png

"local brew" is brewed here. I have 3 22ltr kegs bubbling away at my house biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I was at a pub the other week for my girlfriends 21st and checking out what grog they had. There was a beer can member what it was called but had a price tag for $18. I thought i gota try this as it must be good for that price then i started reading about the beer and it gets served hot!! puke.gif Well stuff that im Aussie not Europeon i like my beer ice cold!!

Little Creature is the way to go and so is James Squire. I like to try craft brewers beer from over the country. When im in a bottleo i always try and get something different. Tho ive been disapointed sometimes, some off my beers are better!

if anyone brews on here a good helpfull site is

I do homebrew, haven't for a while as our keg thing got infected... apparently we washed it wrong and now we need a new one, so starting up again soon... We had it downpat too, got the Coopers Pale malt and used the yeast from a sparkling longneck! smile.gif was very good! tasted like the real thing! smile.gif

Fad bar sell a locally brewed honey beer called Bee Stings - they totally crap all over Beez Neez. Def worth trying & are only $5 a pint smile.gif
brapdat
The Cavan Pub thing on Nth Tce do their own Pale Ale, its not too bad and for $3 a pint its great value.
Im going to start a brew for myself but in Perth you can go to a place where you all their kettles and what not then brew it there, come back a few weeks later and can either bottle it or put it in 500mL cans yourself. Works out to be around $20 a carton.

Used to be a very keen beer drinker but no longer endulge. I have found that living a more pure life style suits my health a lot better both mentally and physically.

Haven't sat down and had a proper beer drinking session in 5 months now and feel so much better for it.

Water and exercise is the key!!! but the argument that the beer does taste different now is true. I confronted Heineken about it when it 1st happened and i got the usual response that it is tried and tested and passed by the heineken family brewers... ra ra ra ra ra!!!

Anyhow doesn't bother me anymore cause i don't drink it. I found i was self medicating in my life too much and all it was doing was messing it up. Now days being healthy has given me a whole new perspective on life!!!

Enjoy!!! smile.gif
