Weekends Power Shortages

Im probably not the only one, but over the weekend i expereinced power loss starting on friday night for a few hrs and then all saturday night and sunday for 24/36hrs striaght in 40+ degree weather with out fans or cooling.

after communicating with etsa today ive been informed that they will " evaluate my shortage" and work out appropiate rebate.

When asking about loss of food stuffs i was told to write a letter to

Etsa Utilitys Risk and Insurance
GPO 77
Adelaide 5001

listing the circumstances and food lost and apoximate cost of replacement.

cionfirmation letter will be sent to me in 5 days and then a second letter informing me of their ations will be sent with in 20 working days.


so if there is any others out there who where similar affected, thats wat you have to do.

PS i think they suck massivly. i pay high end electricity rates in summer even tho i dont have an Air Con.. yet i cant even get basic power supplied..

i just hear on a news break that ETSA is facing a million dollar fine for what happened over the weekend, and i hope that they get that fine so that this never happens again to you craig and everyone else who went throught the same sitiuation over the weekend.

If all else fails its worth calling an Onbudsman they are really good with these matters

similer effected where the other blocks of units on my road

must be in the middle of 2 seperate grids...

It was really strange, usually our area goes off when there's some sort of power problems, but this time there was no problem at all...

There are 3 phases of power out in the street, and it's usually only businesses and houses with very large airconditioners (like mine) that get 3 phase, otherwise you just get one of them.

Normally they just alternate houses between the 3 phases so they are all loaded evenly. In a block of units, all 3 phases would go into the block, and different units could be connected on any of the phases.

It's possible a transformer only shat itself on one phasel, leaving the others still up and running

and dont forget the picasso and your faberge egg that had to be kept in a cool dry climate

hey craig, i can get ya some more coffin bay oysters Serena's boyfriend, Steve, works on one of the farms so next time we're coming over (god knows when tho) i can orjamanize some for ya!!

And thats bloody etsa for ya, while you're waiting for to find out if they'll reinburse you, what if ya starve cos you got no money to restock?? How many people would be in that sort of situation, I know I probly would be at the moment!

Spewing to hear your loss with all you food etc... I feel sorry for the old that are on the pension and loose all there food and have no cooling. That would of been hell for them!'

Seriously though, it is pretty crap that ETSA can't keep supplies up - they know what kind of strains are placed on the system on such hot days, surely it can't be that hard to have a contingency plan in place????

our neighbours in our block of units lost their power too... only the one unit out of he 8 as far as I know tho.. very odd... We live in Unley, they wouldn't dare let our power go out for long... not only are our rates astronomical but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the CEO's or board members lives in our street, or one of his family or golfing buddy or all of them!

Heh. Same deal with Walkerville - except there are even more CEOs and board members living here. My power went off through an overheated fuse, and they repaired it within 30 minutes.

Most suburbs were backlogged for hours and hours.

Yeah I was working at Royal Park Foodland on Friday evening (not my usual Foodland) and they had a blackout from about 12pm til 7pm, lost a fair bit of money from dairy etc.

yeah im planning to write it up with some help from a very well savvy person i know. to make the most of this. seems they aim to delay everything so much. im not too pleased so will definietly be going for maximum amounts as im sure they will devalue wat ever i stick in.

power was stuffed here it took me 2 times on FULL to toast my bread un freakin' believable

OMG Coffins Bay Oysters are the bomb... and i should know... my cuz owns one of the companies *I FREAKIN KNOW! and does he give me anything for free?? NADA!* and i do remember being out on the bay and cookin them kilpatrick style in the mini kitchen on the boat and OMG! fresh from the freakin sea... like... 5 mins out the water max... sooooo noice!

im TOTALLY bummed now that you said you had to throw out the oysters

but theres plenty more in the sea!

Damn power went off just before 5am here for bit. Images flashed through my head of melting freezers full of food.....but a big sigh of releif was heard when it came back on 5 minutes later

Our power was off for 3 hours this morning- mum was mad coz it meant she had to milk the cows 2 hours late & the cows were mad coz they had to wait 2 extra hours
I was mad coz it meant my alarm clock started flashing- for all of a minute before i ripped the plug from the wall NOT a morning person

yer i lost power 2 this morning just b4 5, i was up at 430, damn loud noise out side that woke me up and then i woke up at 930 and saw the clock flashing, im glad i didnt have to work 2day lol, other wise i would have slept in big time!!!!

You knew it went before then babe coz u woke me up and told me lol. Gotta love being able to sleep through absolutely anything!!

I was down at Hallet Cove football club doing working for a client tonight when the power went out again....arrrrghhhhhhh. I left after an hour when the power hadn't come back on. What the hell are ETSA doing?????
