last year was the only year Adelaide BDO has EVER sold out....so many people I know (myself included) who never miss it decided against going this year due to a fairly dismal line-up...Mich and Toby went though, and they sound like they are having fun, so we can get the lowdown from them tomorrow I'm sure.... tongue.gif

Was well unimpressed with the line up.... though sonicanimation was friken maaaad!!!
oh and the hilltophoods werent bad either but meh to the rest...
smp971r
yeah, thats basically why I chose not to go this year....anything that was good on the bill was from Oz anyway, and I'd either seen them before (in some cases like the Hilltop Hoods - Go Dan & Matt - and Sonic Animation many times) or they'll come again......

Did Sonic Animation hae the big fluffy dudes with them at this gig? Its always so funny to watch those dudes run amok biggrin.gif

I went to the BDO, it was the first time, it's seriously like paying $120 to goto the Schutzenfest with rock bands.

Enchanted all the way!

I don't think this years line-up was a good one to base all BDO's on....I love them usually, because of the atmosphere....but then I spend at least 70% of each one I've been too in the boiler room, so its like a big rave anyway - with rock bands to see when you need a break from electronic music wink.gif

I usually don't miss the BDO - I've only missed four since it started in 1992 (I think it was), and they are always a good day, where you discover a new band or DJ that rocks your world!!!!

Lets just pray for a decent line-up next year dry.gif

my official BDO report... bolier room was a complete waste of time, anyone who spent most of their time there was so in the wrong place. Very disappointed with Kid Kenobi... know the show is usually so much better and it was seriously so tuned down that I just couldn't get into it... missed sonic animation unfortunately, got caught up in the antics of Iggy pop - show pony but fucking hilarious.... then the white stripes who played a hell of allot better than I thought and ended their set fabulously with Seven Nation Army.... shits all over the released commercial version, and there wasn't allot else on in boiler room that i wanted to see. I'd have spent more time in there if DJ Brendon had played later but by the time we got there his set was all but over...

Highlight of my day, other than the crowd and the usual BDO antics, the Hilltop Hoods.. they went absolutely off, we were near the front, inside the D barrier and the crowd loved it, the boys looked like they loved what they were doing.. did better than last time they played a BDO and I thought they were fantastic then. Definitely eager to hear their new album... and this from a person who really doesn't enjoy hip hop at all... the boys have just got something.

A few other highlights... Mudvayne, after a few jack daniels and dry/cola some fucking derro emo in fornt of me who was whinging the whole time but also jumping around like a minda, stepped on my toe... i had thongs on... punched him in the jaw, the kid went down... i laughed my ass off, and about that time told shaz there'd be no more jack daniels for me....

henry rollins... god it was awful.. stop talking damn you, you think you're funny, i think you're a tosser.. american ijjit!!

My rap it up, mostly didn't enjoy it as much as previous BDO's.. an influx of the emo culture seems to have bought the whole event down a notch and there are really only so many emo bands one can listen to without wanting to slash their wrists, which explain emo's and their angst i guess.

Still loved it, will still go again next year! After I've written a stern letter to the BDO committee and told them to take the boiler room back to what it used to be... full on, not just bullshit commercial, play to the crowd DJs.

from all the peeps i spoke to said it wasnt that good . and mich mudvayne isnt emo music well unless they have changed it since i last heard em i dont know lol
