Hello, And Needing Help

hi all

Been lurking for a while after finding this fabulous site quite by accident. Quite fortuitus (sic?) really since I had a great love for old skool anthems during my misspent youth (am 35 ) and a continuing love for similar music. Finding this site has regenerated my enthusiasm for the music and culture.

I hope you all will tolerate this old man Greetings to you all.

Also, I am looking for sources to either buy and/or download old skool stuff and new stuff to investigate. Any suggestions as to DJs etc as my memory is shot trying to remember who I liked during those long nights of flat out fun.

well welcome to anthems matey.... old at 35??? No way, you're still a spring chicken... and as Sir PaulHamon would say "you're only as old as the girl you're feeling" LOL.....

anyway enjoy your time here and hopefully we'll see you out and about at some anthems events in the very near future

a lot of us guys here are over 30 so i wouldnt worry too much about being "old". and yeah, what Mich said

were putting on a show at the Ark (surely you remember the Arkaba?) on the 24th of this month. See the front page. Some of the best oldschool DJs in the biz will be playing here so you should come and check it out.

I'm going to try and get out to the Ark, sounds like a blast. Will let you guys know so I can come say hello.

My job makes it real difficult to get to many events, I am usually in some other part of the country at some stupid times. I'm based in Perth, but find myself in Adelaide frequently. Sh*ts me to tears most of the time.

I will check out the poll too. Where is the best source for much of the music, especially early/mid 90's?

dunno about the best source for old school. i tend to grab most of the stuff i have from emule and friends who already have it. the problem is remembering the names of tracks and the artists. and when it comes to that my memory is not so good.....

i think theres a couple of threads on here somewhere that might be able to help.....

but i dont know here they are either, but i'll have a look. if i find something i'll post it here.

Thought I would try find a few downloads etc to get me on track, and then once I know about more I would have thought trolling through record shops etc may be the go.

As for buying music, try a store called Music To My Ears. You will find it in the White Pages

try soulseek.com as well.....they have a whole oldskool category that has helped jog my old memory too - me old raver too

Will definitely try and make it to an event ASAP, when job and time willing. Will shout out and hopefully catch up with some of you.

BTW anybody know of any Perth events/locations for oldskool & anthems?
