I'm not missing out on this one. I'll call in sick too! That makes it 107 sick days within the last 2 and a bit years at work.

BRING IT ON

...Blast...r9 Apr 2005, 5:56pm

interesting... whats people thoughts... st pauls or the ark as a venue?

i goota say i love st pauls! the fact that ur crankin hard at a rave in an ex church is so cool. and watching the lasers glide across the ceiling and walls in the main arena is just awesome, its got like a full rave feel about it with the high walls.

PaulHamon9 Apr 2005, 6:13pm

The Ark is about memories... 91-94

it was the 'Heaven' before Heaven.

Carl Cox, Lenny Dee, Westbam... and more...

They're not really in the same ball park for an oldtimer.

I can remember walking past St Pauls when is was forsale back in 90/91 and thinking that must be an awesome room inside there... I'd love to go to a rave there, then sometime in 93/94... there was!

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong but was Ek (Kennetic Energy) the first rave at St Pauls?

Softyr9 Apr 2005, 6:26pm

BRING IT ON

Davinr9 Apr 2005, 7:46pm

Actually, thinking about it, a lot of the younger crew probably do look at the Ark and go "What the?" Without understanding the special memories that go with the place for the older crew, it would look pretty average as a venue.

Does anyone have any photos from the Carl Cox, Lenny days? Maybe it would help explain a little

PaulHamonr9 Apr 2005, 7:53pm

Actually i think it's one of the cleanest, freshest venues in town.

~pretty average~ maybe the decor leaves something to be desired...

But you tell one other venue in Adelaide that looks as good in the day time as the night time!

One thing the Hurley's do is have pride in there establishments.

I was digging yor my box of flyers and found a whole roll of snaps from Carl Cox at The Arkaba... he looks so much younger. They will be on the site as soon as I find a scanner that'll work with my machine!

Huntee10 Apr 2005, 8:24am

Well I can't wait to hear all my old favourite tunes pumpin through my veins once again.
Re-living the memories keeps you young and alive.
BRING ON OLD SCHOOL anthems

The decor was the part I thought looked pretty average...but we can look past it because the memories that daggy old decor brings back, are so very special

I went to them all the first club I really started in was State (only 14 then, Ssshhh), then progressed to Radius, Discovery, Big Ticket, all the raves etc etc. Troy actually played at my 21st and Tamaras 23rd birthday party at the Kings Head and I must say out of all events I have been to in my life that night was still the best. I would love to spell out my name for you but Troy should be able to remember playing at our birthday. I have since caught up with Jase so he can fill you in on my name. I am sure I do probably know you as we were rather a tight group back in the days. You know how the story goes remembering faces is easier than remembering names. Write back and fill me in as I maybe able to work out who you are.

I heard that st pauls is going up for sale.. you know what that means.. it means that this could well be the last anthems at st pauls and that woud suck

Davin23 May 2005, 12:11pm

Unfortunately this appear to be true and it was listed in the paper a few weeks ago.

Don't worry about the June 12 show, as it's firmly locked in and even the quickest commercial property sale would never go through that quickly, but it does make me wonder if it will be the last rave at St Pauls. I guess that's up to the new owners and if they keep it as a function centre....and a rave friendly function centre at that.

Fingers crossed everyone, and may the Gods of Raving look down kindly on us in this former place of Christian worship, and now a great place of PLUR worship

E'n23 May 2005, 12:32pm

Don't You Be The One That Misses Out!

Bring it back to the days of reality... If dance music reality for you started sometime in the early 90’s, or you just love the classic tracks from this era, this one’s for you! Even If you’ve never been, give it a go this June Long Weekend - we promise you won’t be disappointed! Arrive home with massive grin, a musical education and a few new dance-floor buddies to boot! Once again, we have secured a venue worthy of hosting another in the anthems series. St Paul’s holds a special place in many hearts across Adelaide, holding some of this city’s finest and most memorable events, including several previous anthems installments.

We’ve locked in some of Adelaide’s best Old School selectors for the Rave and House rooms including Brendon, ATB, Mr S, Dr Damage, Josh, Andy J, Madness, Devious, George The Boss, Skot Holder, Reelax, jayse and Noddy vs H-Bomb with MCs Maestro D and Rudeboy. Be there to soak up the anthems vibe at St Pauls on Sunday June 12 when they take us back, way back!

NEWS UPDATE: DnB area added to make 3 rooms of total anthems pleasure! Adelaide’s junglist pioneers have something really special in store, with MPK selecting the cream of the crop from 93-97 while Noddy and Fiction are going toe to toe in a 2 hour 94/95 back to back rinse out! Leaders of the new school Patch and Mark 7 will be dropping plenty of bombs from this side of the millennium, with Khem rolling out the liquid anthems early.

NEWS UPDATE: Recovery added to keep the party going longer! Just before sunrise, the anthems team will be cramming everyone left at St Pauls into one room, and cranking it up another notch with the official anthems Recovery. After a night of old school bliss, we’ll be working our way through recovery classics up to today’s banging new tunes. Can you keep up?

Tickets are available from the [anthems shop] for a limited time at just $20 with no fees. Also from Venuetix (all stores), MTME Records (all stores), 618 Records (city), Central Station Records (marion), Urban Phones (golden grove) and 3rdimension (semaphore) for $28 plus fees.

Raving Lunatic31 May 2005, 9:19am

Just wonderin... are free tix still being sent out for talking in a forum? so lookin forward to old school...!

oldschoolcamr7 Jun 2005, 5:02pm

if i said yes id be lying....you dont want me to lie do you?

chel*sayr7 Jun 2005, 5:36pm

i'm confused..one banner says tickets $20 and another $28..that's false advertising. you have to change that...i'm still coming though

foonjir7 Jun 2005, 5:44pm

hrm, isn't it $20 if you buy online, and $28 from stores ??

PaulHamonr7 Jun 2005, 5:58pm

ok.. it's all $28 (with no fees)... i take my half and hour to change everything.. that's all...

one of the things with the internet is it's all live! and they're a several things to change all at once!

Everyone was emailed over the weekend telling them that early birds tickets finished at 5pm Tuesday... So the current deal is...

QUOTE

Tickets are available from the [anthems shop] for $28 with no fees. Also from Venuetix (all stores), MTME Records (all stores), 618 Records (city), Central Station Records (marion), Urban Phones (golden grove) and 3rdimension (semaphore) for $28 plus fees.

sezzie84r7 Jun 2005, 7:47pm

maybe u all should have got your early birds... thats always the way to go...

see u all there.... countdown is on...

Yes indeed the countdown is on.....i am having trouble concetrating at work...especially when my mind wanders and comes back with some old school tune

foonjir7 Jun 2005, 11:42pm

yeah! i defently see you guys there!!!

gonna have to find me!!

H-Bombr8 Jun 2005, 12:01am

Since its under a week away and i'm starting to think what i should play, i've become a bit stumped as to what to play, so can you guys help me out as to what you would like to see me play

The choices are:

Bounce set - with the old Dwarf, Baby Boom, Evolution and a heap of DJ Paul stuff
like Rainbow in the sky and Six Days.

Old Rush Set - which had a mixture of bounce and new stuff including cold as ice and xtc you got what i need

or i have just put together a set of anthem tunes of the last 3 years in Hardcore which has tracks in it such as Ready for Judgement Day, Code Red, Hardcore Taking over, Bitter Sweet, Life is a Mystery, Sweet Dreams and Project Hardcore

buphr8 Jun 2005, 12:07am

Wow leyton so many choices I would have to say the first as its an anthems but personally i think gem and i would

the third set.....but you do waht you fel like.

TCBr8 Jun 2005, 12:10am

id have to say the first one too but the old rush sounds awefully good too!! curse these hard decisions lol!

Davinr8 Jun 2005, 1:27am

Just my 2.2 cents worth (inc GST)....the newer stuff doesn't really fit in with the old school anthems, but ultimately, the opinion of a few of us on here all gets blown away on the night.....when over 1000 ppl in the top room go nutz

The DJs job is to guide the crowd, but the crowd have the final say and give a track the nod or a cold shoulder out on the dancefloor. Regardless of which way you go, I'm sure there will be a lot of smiling faces beaming from ear to ear

happybr8 Jun 2005, 9:23am

i woke up this morning and thought only 3 more sleeps to go till anthems. yea yea i know its actually 4 but i dont think i will sleep on the 4th night i will be to excited.
IM GOING TO DANCE LIKE I GOT ANTS IN ME PANTS

Chuckstar8 Jun 2005, 9:55am

H-Bomb i would like the second "old rush set" but as previously mentioned it depends on you and the crowd i guess, ill be there regardless : - )

doctor_dropperr8 Jun 2005, 11:28am

Who was playing hard core early morning in the Heaven Eden room at the Fresh Watt party?

Sorry for my ignorace, but my friend Dee wants to say awesome track "f*ck my best friend, f*ck my best friend!".

Davinr8 Jun 2005, 1:59pm

I'm sure that track actaully says "as far back as I can remember, I've always wanted to duck my best friend"

errr, myabe not LOL

buphr8 Jun 2005, 2:28pm

That track is the sad truth for female friends

and others in your case Dav...nah just kiddin
