Big hello to all the anthems addicts out there in SA! I'm Sophie - I'm from Sydney.

A few friends and I put on oldskwl events in Sydney and it's great to see that there is a strong love for anthems in SA! Love your site, and would love to come along to one of your parties to see how similar or different the scenes and the music are!

For anyone who's coming up to sydney...you can still get your anthems dose by coming along to one of our parties. We are the StillBuggin' Crew and you can find out about sydney events at www.stillbuggin.com. Site still under construction but forums are up.

It would be great if we could combine our DJs so we get a broad cross-section of tracks and DJ styles. Maybe something to consider in the future ?? Inter-state oldskwl showdown!!

cheeers, have a good day peeps!

sophie
Elektro Kitten
hey cool!
That's awesome!

if i'm heading to sydney might have to check one of your parties out wink.gif

hi sophie,

good to see that oldskool is alive and kicking in other states too. We would definitely encourage you and your friends to come to an anthems do if ever you make it to adelaide and knowing the lot of us we'd be up for checking out anthems sydney style if any of us make it over there.

We love our anthems, the more people supporting it in more places, the better I say!

definitely willing to party with these guys!!! I'll PM them up and invite them along to our next event - we've got a party happening this Friday "Flickin' back the clock 2 " and monthly event starting in July!

i really wanna come down to a party in SA. wats on the books for the next couple of months?

June 12 is decadance (see banner!!) and usually something in August at the Ark - which is the best show ever smile.gif

anthem_junkie
yes thats definitely what we would be looking at doing! - SA vs NSW -and also just guest DJ appearances...!

don't think we've had many adelaide DJs in syd at all (i think i recall some rave DJs coming over once but that was years ago)

so anthems is still really big there looks like?! you have plenty of registered ppl on ur site!

whilst we have a strong anthems following we are finding it hard to draw some oldskoolers out of their adult life and back onto the dancefloor...!

however we have made an impression on some youngin's. one comment in partucular that i recall was this 18yo dude saying "i've never heard ANY of these tracks before; i don't even know what style of music this is...but it absolutely rocks!" and soo..... italian olskwl grabs itself a brand new fan!

we wanna share the anthems sound with as many ppl as will listen! and i'm sure thats what ur parties and site are about too...!

will be great to collaborate with u guys!

We're getting bigger all the time, especially expecting a growth after Decadance
NokturnL
We have a small but faithfull following... a lot of us here are youngens that have listened to oldskool since back when we were like 12... So we make up one big happy family!!!

Good to see our family is extendable to other states!!! A joint party would be wikid! ANTHEMITES UNITE!!! biggrin.gif
PaulHamon

Our bigger shows attract 1500-2000 people with 2-3 rooms of old school.

Our specialist shows like TRANCE anthems, HARDCORE anthems attract 600-900 people with 1-2 rooms of old school.

We've got a decated inner team.anthems of around 75 people that help out on the shows and get involved the the community!

Sydner oldskoolers must be soft then laugh.gif

This is a great idea, interstate affilliations are excellent to have, and I welcome you anthem_junkie...step into our world soon wink.gif
PaulHamon

I'm not sure we're we'd do a joint SHOW.. I was thinking in... the TOWN of HAY or GRIFFITH smile.gif

Sydney -> Hay = 699 kms
Melbourne -> Hay = 402 kms
Adelaide -> Hay = 688 kms

Sydney -> Griffith = 567 kms
Melbourne -> Griffith = 512 kms
Adelaide -> Griffith = 834 kms

ROFL smile.gif... 500 old school ravers rocking up to the local town hall to make a rukus!
Nitrous
oh wow, id be up for that just to see the look on the locals faces biggrin.gif
Fulcrum
oh yeh, would be like the ones jjj put on every year... (can't remember what it's called)

suppose bonnie doon is a bit out of the way for both cities sad.gif
Dalliedog
dam country boy
DeL
oi... us country boys know how to party!!!

id be interested... tho.. bus driver duties would suck wink.gif hahaha would be an awesome evnt!
PrincessPeach1337
I love the idea of an interstate cross-over! perhaps the only way to ever make an anthems event even *more* fun! That half-way idea is hilarious, but would be insane fun

It's also great to know that old-sk00l is alive and well in other centres. I'm very curious to know what the scene's like over Sydney way, perhaps I'll check out one of your parties sometime smile.gif
skitzkitty
Wicked - old skool connecting music lovers all over the nation, isn't that what it's all about???? smile.gif I don't get over to Sydney all that often (most of my interstate buddies are in Melbourne) but now I have another excuse to get on over there!

What setting up a campsite half-way between Sydney & Adelaide and having a proper old skool field-rave?? cool.gif
NokturnL
I'd be up for that... Roadtrip!!!
absent1
Wouldnt it be much easier to do a 'tour' like gig? one show, in 2-3 different citys, with DJs from all the different events partaking...
Like two.tribes but ADELAIDE is included tongue.gif... and possibly the biggest and BEST one wink.gif

Granted the meeting in a spot idea does work... things like rainbow serpent BUT those are multi-day events... to get people across to a smaller town... or me to even consider driving 688km, i would be wanting afew days worth of fun smile.gif

There is really limitless options to this sort of stuff that just requires research and effort... some things i have run/helped run have failed, some successes... it all comes down to prepairation, research and effort smile.gif

.... and abit of luck doesnt hurt wink.gif
mich
i like the idea of both, a weekend event at the half way mark and a tour (two tribes have been in adelaide and rocked it!!). Do both maybe? Depends on the level of interest and the willingness of the acts too in terms of travelling!
absent1
I ment the lack of their interest in adelaide this year in that post...

Ripped off or what sad.gif

acts are the least of your concern... its the licencing and permissions.. etc etc... that sort of paperwork/work does your head in...
missvixen
do two shows....one in adelaide and one in syd??........ROAD TRIP!! tongue.gif hhhehehe

im up for it!!!
ill quit work and become a full time raver tongue.gif

...this sounds awesome!!

rent a crowd to the max!! 2 states combined........lets f*cking rave!!
anthem_junkie
i think it'll be much easier to get SA DJs over here, and then have sydney DJs over there on another occasion.

althought it sounds great to have a combination party somewhere in the middle, that requries ALL ppl to travel, which is likely to result in a very small party.

if we have guest DJs from the other state, then its only a FEW ppl who have to travel, which is much easier!

you guys show so much enthusiasm - can't wait to party over there!

It's called the Melbourne shuffle... And it's WICKED happy.gif

I have 2 weeks holiday in July after the school holidays and I've been wondering what I was going to do with them... I think I may have my answer...

What do you guys have on in the way of ravey type events in late July?

G.
absent1
Personally I think its quite achieveable... especially with things like swapping DJs....

You need a very unique stance to do a gig in the middle of nowhere. it can be done and have A BIG turn out, but it would need to be a yearly event with something to bring people back every year. can be done, but whats getting thrown around here seems to just be good as a swap or split gig smile.gif

argh i would write more but time is limited smile.gif

i been to Hay, funnily enough i drove thru it on my way to sydney laugh.gif

wow - haven't been on the site for a while! how u is everyone? congrats onbeing voted best club night!! fantastic effort!

whats coming up in say june to sept? we're thinking bout flying down for a weekend!

was just talking to my bf and he says he has an uncle in adelaide where we could stay at if we came down for a party. but id like to come down for an oldskwl one rather than one of the trance anthems events.

my bf mixes, and we got a couple boys who mix at our parties. Would be way cool to have sydney v's adelaide DJs at an anthems party there or at our stillbugin parties in sydney!

paul, if you're interested in possibly getting some sydney DJs at ur parties, PM me. and ofcourse we'd be glad to do the same in return if any of ur DJs are round this way!

lets extend anthems love all round australia!

wohooo - oldskwl all the way!

good idea.... lets see if i can manage to do it corectly!

STILLBUGGIN are back!

If there’s one thing we can say about this year so far, it’s that oldskwl has well and truly been on the cards. With events like Eezyluv 2, Once Upon a Time and Anthem 4 showcasing a range of artists and music styles, the year exploded into an oldskwl revival not seen in recent times! Looking back we had DJ Jade play a special guest set at Eezyluv 2, international legend Cru-L-T at Once Upon a Time and the much-adored Southend at Anthem 4. Think this year can’t get any better?!

Well we can guarantee the rest of it is going to be no different. Stillbuggin’ are back to business with plans to re-tell the Sydney techno story. We’ll blow your brain back to the 90’s when the story was being written by legendary artists such as Shade, Abel, Paul Holden, Reaver and more! We’ll take you on a journey from page one and all the way through. So come along. After all…weren’t you part of the story?!

TECHNO BLUEPRINT

The Sydney scene has always had its own unique sound. Whether it be the element of grimey techno, stompy house, dark trance, erratic break-beat or uplifting nrg, there has always been a defining sound throughout Sydney parties.

And despite music and parties having changed, our memories of early rave days have still lingered. In a bid to re-create those experiences, the music and the vibe, Stillbuggin have gone back to the original plans - the blueprints for what made an awesome party back then…

MUSIC

It’s always been about the music. So we’re showcasing artists who made their mark in the scene at the time (and still tear the place apart!). So in true oldskwl style, Stillbuggin’ present the musical architects re-drawing the plans for the night, including TWO LIVE ACTS!

Jade – Warming up the House

Reaver (live) – Chunky Choons

Shade – Techno Trip

Abel – Mixed Beans

E-tek (live) – Oldskwl Mashup

Paul Holden – Back to Break-beat

Omb v Kevmo – Morning Madness

DJ Jade
You've seen her before! You've given respect to the Queen at Anthem 4! Now pay tribute once again. Jade will be kicking off at 10pm with a great selection of tracks that'll warm your booties and put you in the house.

Reaver [LIVE] - www.stevereaver.com
Back by popular demand! Enjoyed by everyone at the last Back To Unity in Nov 2006 we just had to have him work his magic once again. This time he'll be dishing out some Chunky Choons that'll leave you in stitches and if you remember the energy he belted out last time, you'll know what is coming. If you missed the last Back To Unity, you can find his set here.

DJ Shade - www.s-productions.com
You can always count on Shade taking you on a rave back in time. He'll be mixing, cutting and scratching those old tunes like you've never heard before. If there's one record collection that should be in a museum, it would take two museum's to hold Shade's tracks.

DJ Abel El Toro - www.abeltoro.com
Abel will be cooking up some mixed beans to soothe your hunger pains. He last played a wicked set at Once Upon A Time in June and he is bringing all his ingredients to the Bar Broadway kitchen. Take your mind back to the legendary events that Abel promoted such as Happy Valley, Midnight Madness and Mixed Beans. Like most DJs today, Abel has moved into the world of production, remixing everyone from Southend to Nina Hagen. Collaborating with Sydney local spanish partner in crime DJ Jumping Jack, together they released “4 U 2 know” on Sony’s DJ beats Vol.2 & later the Amore” remixes.

E-Tek [LIVE] - http://www.myspace.com/eteklive
DJ Random and DJ Christronic make up this dynamic duo. They were there at the beginning and now they're on the other side of the decks producing tracks with samples from tracks that go wayyyyyyyyyy back. They last hyped up the dance floor at Ignite in May with their current Hard Trance tunes, but this time they'll be dusting off the cob webs and dishing out some classics. Check out their label at http://www.hardbeats.com.au

DJ Paul Holden
Paul Holden will be rocking the place as only he knows how! Paul has been DJ'ing since 1980 making that 27 years of experience. And of course he always pumps out the oldskool that we come to love and trust! We have Paul to thank for the good times at 'Stun' at the old Neo Pharaoh in The Hotel Nikko and if you were lucky enough to go to the Field of Dreams series of parties, you know that you don't want to miss Paul's set!

Paul is also an accomplished Producer, songwriter and remixer. His track 'Good Fun' showcased at Field of Dreams 4 in 1996 to a massive crowd and took them to another level!

DJ Kevmo + DJ Omb
This will be one morning you wish would go on forever with StillBuggin's very own Kevmo and Omb blasting the morning sunshine with anthems and rarities that'll leave you sky high long after the curtains have come down!

VENUE

We are pleased to announce that for this special event we have secured a perfect new venue. Bar Broadway located on the corner of Broadway & Regent St, Broadway is opposite UTS and 1 min from Central Train Station with plenty of on street parking. Check out the venue at www.barbroadway.com.au.

The in-house sound system will rattle your old bones and boasts an elevated stage so everyone can see the awesome LIVE acts we have in store for you. For those of you who can't handle the thumping bass and the trip down memory lane, there's plenty of plush and comfy seating around with a great view of the stage.

For this massive event, we have a dedicated team of sound and lighting engineers to make sure you’re pleased with every dancing step of the way, and they'll make sure that the only thing that skips is your heartbeat in time with those bouncing tunes, and not the needle on the record!

For more info hit www.stillbuggin.com

See you there!

it wont let me add the flyer for some reason...told u i was forum illiterate! well u can check it out at our site. unless i can email it to someone who knows how to upload it? maybe u jase?
