As my car insurance is shortly up for renewal, I was thinking that there surely must be a place out there somwhere that you can go to/through if you have a car that is slightly modified (stereo, exhaust, lowered & rims) that wont cost u an arm & a leg & most definitely will let you pay more than once a year!? <_<
I realise that insurance is a costly excercise no matter what-BUT all the modded cars out there surely have insurance & i doubt would only pay once a year??
I have a saving system which covers the one yearly payment, but its such a head f (getting paid once a month doesnt help!! ) & parting with all that $ at once really does suck BIGTIME! <_<

Was hoping some of you out there would have some suggestions/recommendations for a decent priced (preferably monthly payment) car insurance place..

Any help would be greatly appreciated

THANX :)

RAA, i had no back seat to make room for a sterio in my first car, an HX prem, and yeh i think insurance was like $20 a month or $30, i had like 1.5k worth of sterio but i'm not sure if they knew but it doesn't matter just don't tell them and DONT GET ROBBED :)

It could quite obviously be different .. but I went with BankSA for insurance for my motorbike .. it was by far the cheapest out there (beat some others by about 800 bucks).

I'm pretty sure they would do cars too .. check it out.

I am also insured with Shannons as my car is heavily modified and they are only one of two places who would insure it! I am very happy with them and they let me pay monthly..

I get my insurance through CGU i think banksa and adelaide bank go through them. I never ever had insurance in my life untill i got a 5ltr VN and it costed 700 a year full comp. Not bad as i was25 or 26 and never had insurance untill then.

Im with RAA also. It costs meabout $50 a month... RAA are pretty good. Although i have heard they make life difficult when it comes time to make a claim.. But i'll cross that bridge when i come to it.

I work for an Insurance Broker. We go through all different Insurers. Some offer monthly payments, some are really good with modified cars & some not so good. It all depends on what sort of car you have, how much your mods are worth, your age & your driving history. If your car is imported, turbo or just a car with heaps of mods & accessories, your probably better going through someone like Shannons, Just cars, Young & Kool Car Insurance or Unique Cars. Go on the internet & do a search for car insurance - modified cars. You'll definaly get a few options OR you can PM your details & i can see if our company can help with a quote!

Hope this helps :)

Yep, I have $2000 tyres and rims on my car and they don't charge an extra cent.

One of my mates who drives a Turb'd GTi gets his from Just Cars. He told them everything about the car, all the mods and he pays sweet f'all a year. They laugh cos it's a 'Swift' 1.3...but they don't realise it blows 5.7L V8's off the road haha.

anything u fail to tell them.. is a breach of contract and if an acident occurs and they find a sub or a set of rims on your car that hasnt been declared, they will fail to cover you!

i was with SGIC when my Celica got smashed by an RAA insured vehicle. the guy that hit me had a new car in a week or two.. i was drivin for 6 weeks after accident before finally getting my pay out.

i changed RX-7 to RAA as it was half price and twice cover, and i saw hgwo well they looked after their customers.
When i hit the Subaru in the RX-7 it was fixed and back on the road a week later. by MC Doyle, the repairer of my choice. those who have car world experience in adelaide know that Doyles do dam good work!!! so the fact i coudl send my car there i was very happy!!!

Yes that is very true!! Which is why every single modification, and there is a list of those, is noted on my policy. Hence the reason only a few companys would insure my car!!

When considering insurance companies, it shouldnt always be about price. You should consider other things like; choice of repairer, will they supply you with a hire car if crashed somewhere not local, choice of buying wreck, windscreen replacements etc.. All these and many more things should be considered..

MC Doyle do have a good reputation, especially with the rotar community!

BankSA uses CGU - they don't like mods.. took me once a month to prove the alloys I put on the car I had at the time were legal..

RAA are strict, but not as strict as some out there and their prices are pretty good.. I'm paying approx $105/yr third party on my ute..

I used to work in insurance, in and in all of my experience... RAA is deinfitely up there, for costs and service.

STAY AWAY from Shannons, Just Car, "budget" (QLD company) and the like. they are all dodgy
