Just browsing through the Acts and Regulations that Govern South Australia...

I've found some funny things...this is one of them...

A person of the Sikh religion is exempt from wearing a helmet whilst riding if they have a turban!

The act does not define what a turban is, therefor you could wear a beanie (Your Turban) and say you are of the Sikh religion and you should not receive a fine! laugh.gif

That's funny as hell - except I think if you ride without a helmet the least of your worries would be getting a fine! LOL

I hear that its law to wear your seatbelt, but if there is no seatbelt to be worn there is no law being broken.
I also heard that providing all the seatbelts in a vehicle are in use, then you can have as many people in it as you want.

True or false?

Its illigal to have a car with no seatbeats unless the car was produced before 1970 which is when seatbelts were made mandentory in new cars sold. so if u have a pre 1969 car, which didnt have seatbelts when it came of the showroom floor, then u dont have to wear them.

but if u take the seatbelts out of a 2000 falcon or something, and try use that excuse you will looose smile.gif

In regards to the second rumor, its also illigal to have more than the maximum limit of people in the car. the maximum limit is set by the amount of seats WITH seatbelts.

so unfortuanly both a false sad.gif

Its illegal to push a pram on the footpath in SA. It is considerd a 4 wheel vehicle. Sad but true.

This may have been changed as its been a few years since i heard about it. The Law was passed in the early 1900's, i guess the footpaths were a bit busier back before cars were invented.

Is that why 3 wheeler prams are so popular`these days? laugh.gif laugh.gif

Thats weird because have checked this a number of times, because my parents wanted me to drive them adn thier friends to dinner, had a four wheel drive but still had one to many so my parents always rang the police station and as said my sister was actually pulled over (for speeding) and had too many in teh car but the cop sad as all the seatbelts in the car were being used he coudln't book them

I'm pretty sure that woudlnt be the case, If it was it would be perfectly legal to fit 25 six year old kids into a Nissan Pulsar and drive it around town.. I cant imagnine that happening.

Perhaps the officer who caught your sister speeding figured he was already giving her a fine for speeding so didnt both to fine her for the extra people. Or the officer could have just been a complete idiot lol.

yeah i tend to agree with Graham, I've been in a car where all seatbelts were in use but there were too many people in it and the driver got a fine. There are regulations surrounding the number of people who can safely fit in a car (which is generally determined by the number of seatbelts).

apparantly its legal to urinate on the front wheel of your car, in public, aslong as atleast 20% of the urine makes contact with YOUR car tyre...

shortage of public conveniences....???
