impending tsunami

This has got me worried as hell as my young brother is over there. I just heard this news just then on Channel 10 and am not able to get through the phone lines to Japan as all the lines are busy.

Yeah it's a tsunami, but nothing like the one that hit indonesia... this one is only an 8.1 on the richter scale... the indonesian one was a 9, as high as it goes, and was a massive landslide under the ocean which is what caused the massive displacement of water...

this ones only a warning, and basically the whole east coast of japan constantly get pounded by large tsunami waves so they have countermeasures...

with the amount of early warning they had i 'm sure that the safety measures put in place would keep your brother in safe hands!

But i know how u feel man, and i hope for your sake that he is alright!

I have my fingers crossed that nothing bad is going to happen. My brother (and some of the other foreigners currently teaching in Japan) is currently staying in the region where the impending tsunami is going to supposedly hit. I've been up all night just watching the news and staying online just for any updates.

aw sang i dnt think theres too much to worry about iwth that much warning im sure your brother wuld have moved to higher grounds.. i know a lot of japan is lower than seas level, but it is also full of hills and mountains... 20cm waves with ESTIMATED 1m waves.. i think we get up to 4m waves on our shores.. the tittle did say small tsunami. also it would be on the television if their wer any injuries.. i think more injuries wuld come from frantic civilains but if this is a fairly regular thing im sure they wuld know how to react.. dnt they do tsunami drills in some schools over their.. japanese are very orgainsed ppl.

dont worry honey, i hope you get in contact with your lil bro soon, i for one wuld like to know how he is, to know he is ok

Stupid thing is that he's visiting the coastal regions with some colleagues just for a short trip without a local host or guide, so thats what I'm more worried about. If he had someone that was local with him, I wouldnt be so worried. But he's there with a whole bunch of other people that aren't local to the area they are visiting.

It's still a bit unpredictable at this stage so I'm gonna stay awake for a while or maybe try and nod off.
