What Makes A Good Club/rave/night?

Being an old raver
I love to walk into a venue and see that some effort (love) has gone into the night
decorations and freaked out decor,UV Madness not just another room
makes you smile and get even more excited as you walk in
check out the photos of the imagineer parties in previous events!

holy crap!



and this will upset a lot of people I like at least some SMOKE machine , no matter how good your lights are , thay will look 3 times better with a bit of smoke, but I like to see where I am going

Clean toilets, nothing worse than feeling sketchy or busting and walking into a scene from trainspotting- how the hell did that get up there?


and in a big area- Huge dance platforms that hold about 20 people, about 2 or 3 foot high , use these to make the main floor appear on a lower level and have at least 2 sides raised - so then it looks as though the ravers are up the walls(crowd looks twice as big and seems twice as up for it)


also friendly crowd , always nice to have a good friendly vibe

Good security stand out for me. Friendly or arrogant/nasty door staff can make or break your first impressions of a night.

It has to be a well set up venue with awesome lighting, sound set up, the best DJs, great staff and a full on partying, run-a-muck, raving crowd!!!! With heaps of friends!

you have all hit the nail on the head.. wicked tunes and great crowds.. everything then comes together..

these are paramount.

the people, the venue, the music, the girls in short skirts, the smiling faces, the passion, the posers, the dancers, the weird dudes in the costumes that you really want to kick, the company, the buncha kids grinding their teeth, and the weird guy letting loose on the dance floor.

NON STICKY FLOORS!

love it if the dance floor is not completely sticky when you walk in

yah, sticky dance floors suck...

i find it better if i 'spill' a little bit of water where im dancing

but not too much, coz that could make for a funniest home videos entry

I just hope that Melbourne trend of sprinkling talcum powder on the dance-floor doesn't catch on here - a recipe for sprained ankles if ever I saw one

Good nights for me include:

* No drunken wankers
* Plenty of toilet paper in the loo's
* Efficient and friendly bar staff
* Loads of fun people who are there for the music (not off a bus tour!)
* Familiar faces
* Cranking tunes!

After becoming quite friendly with the guys who run the dodgem cars at the royal show, they closed the track to everyone but us, cranked the power transformer from the normal setting of 2 up to max (3), then covered the track with talcum powder. Hell fast dogems that looked like a drift day at Mallala LOL

I don't think I've ever cried through laughter, but that day would have been the closest

I think these two stand out for me.

I like it when the place is ram-packed (doesn't have to be a big venue). With an 'up-for-it' crowd, all there for the music.

Easy going Staff at the venue nothing worse then walking in and your first impression is a BIG BURLY BLOKE that thinks his sh*t don't stink and rubs you up the wrong way, then to get past him to get the Nasty girl taking money/tickets that doesn't want to be there she just wants to be inside with the rest of us party go'ers

As for Talcum powder get that sh*t of the dance floor no need for it all it does is create mess and when the person nxt to you decides to poor thiere drink on top it makes it worse

Why do people need talcum powder and water to dance??

its not like we put water on talcum powder, that would just create a mess...

but it is much easier to dance if the floor is a little slippery...unless ur one of those people that like to dance without lifting their feet off the ground.

I actually find it easier to dance with grip below my feet, that way when you crank and almost can't keep up with yourself you can still get your footing, better than being splat like a pancake on the dancefloor.

And everyone here has got it all down pat when it comes to "what makes a night better" EXCEPT noone has mentioned

Na Wazza in not the kind that keeps my feet on the floor. I like to go nuts to a great tune and just don't a really slipery floor. Twisted my annkales one to many time's

But if you need it to help i'll just step aside to some where else where the powder isn't under my feet

Hey everyone, am new here and i thinka great night is made of what ever you want it to be, everyone is different, as long as you are enjoying yourself than its a good night

all of your mates being on the same level helps for a good night, friendly security also gets the thumbs up and all the workers for that matter,

I can't seem to think of anythign unique to add except i know this would be the case for everyone, it doesn't matter how good a night you are having, i'll bet when that song that you are crazy about starts crankin... you couldnt think of a better place to be at that moment
