Detroit

Anyone else on here a fan of Detroit style dance/techno music? Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Blake Baxter, Ritchie Hawtin, Underground Resistance and so on...all legendary producers of "beats and bleeps"

You missed Mad Mike - The founder of what we know know as Detriot techno.

Love the shit!! And i would have to blow my own horn here and say its what i play best.

YES...I'm a fan. I wasnt so sure if there was anybody else with similar tastes in music (except CrisP and Lauren) as everyone else tends to love hardcore and all that. I love the likes of Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Plastikman and on the UK side - Carl Cox. Also like the Chicago House style as well and minimalist techno.

Old Skoolie that wasn't meant to be a definitive list

Wicked...it's good to see some fellow Detroit appreciators on here. Stacey Pullen is another favourite of mine, saw him do a set back in 2000 or 2001?, not quite sure exactly when but he seriously rocked the place. HMC used to play some cranking Detroit sets as well Come to think of it, a decent night of Detroit is about the only thing that entices me to go out these days

There's shitloads more but these are just the ones I could pull out easily....I've taped most of them off so I can at least listen to them, but I really should try and get round to get a turntable so I can play and listen to them a bit more

Does anyone know what the techno/detroit scene is like in Melbourne by any chance? Hubby and I will be moving over there mid 2007...would be good to get a heads up on what clubs to check out....we've already sussed out some good gothic ebm, darkwave and synthpop (another musical style we share a fondess of) would be good to have a bit of a heads up on what might be happening in the way of techno/detroit stylings over there.

Good site for Detroit and Detroit related music, has some really wicked mixes available for download.
