Most things I plan to buy I check prices on eBay before buying them at different retail outlets.

No smashing bargains come to mind - but I've bought many a thing off eBay, and always at considerably less than I'd normally find elsewhere.

Yeah we've got a few things from Ebay. Mainly stuff for our new digital camera (extra batteries, leather case, screen protector, mini tripod, XD Card etc etc) Also bought some other bits n pieces at bargain prices

256mb 7900GT, was initially supposed to be 512mb 7800GT but he sold out so upgraded for free, I think bidding was like $400 or so (when they first came out), dunno what prices they charge now.....I should see if they have 8800Gts ...

i looked at their feedback and some people have complained about not getting sutff, the seller is in usa so it will be harder to get....his excuse for other peoples complaints has been 'must have been a shipping problem' or some nonsense...not much i can do so meh, cbf wasting time chasing up crap..not sure if it was insured.

ebay has their own lawyers that handle this kind of thing. you pay them like $20 and they sort it out for you. probably worth your while, could save yourself $380...

they dont like their customers getting ripped off. it makes them look bad. send them an email explaining your case and they'll sort it.

I just bought a USB Data Cable for my phone for $14.50 (including postage) .. it would have set me back $69 from the Telstra shop

Also just got 25 packets of incense, each packet containing 8 sticks (so 200 sticks total), and each packet being different .. so basically many many scents, etc etc - all for $12.50 including postage.

Those pack of 8 are normally $1 each, so I got 25 of them for half price

i got my glasses today they look ok but hurt my head but thats ok.. they were so damn cheep

Been scoring some cheap as car parts of ebay. I select the check in your state and do a search. I picked up a near new radiator for my Ford for $1 and got to pick it up. Score!

yeah I got taken advantage of by a loophole (I think is now closed) with Paypal. Sold a phone on ebay, dude paid via paypal, then claimed didnt receive it. Even though I had postage receipts it was not via online tracking service (as per the then Paypal policy) - the person got the phone AND his money refunded due to Paypal crap policy. Now whenever I sell something it is via registered post. Live and learn....

I just got two Pioneer CDJ800s, a Pioneer DJM600 mixer, and a metal carry case that houses it all .. $2300, perfect condition.

That's a saving of about $2500 if I bought new, or around $1000 if I bought it used from everywhere else I can find.

Been receiving Baby clothes all week

Ebay has been the prefect place to secure some really great bargains. Baby clothes are generally pretty pricey for what they are and when you consider just how long the baby will have them for

On a bad note, I won and paid for some Punisher stuff for Ace's car for his birthday. Paid for them. And now it's saying that the Ebay user is no longer registered. They have like 350 feedback, all positive too. So I'm hoping that my item still got sent out!

I have 6 days to wait for the maximum time it would take for the package to get to me, then I guess it's onwards with the Ebay dispute in hope to get my $$$ back.

yeah my cousin had that happen to him and he thought he was ripped off in germany, he baught something from poland on e-bay, had all possitive feedback on it, but the account dissapeared... they had already cut their losses but 3 weeks later their item arrived... was kinda a surprise to them cos it was a few days before chrissy!

On ebay you don't need to just "cut your losses" you can file a dispute for an item paid for and not received. I don't know how good the follow ups are because this is the first time anything like this has happened to me, but you do have options.

I'd be careful...Alot of the stuff can be dodgy, funny you mention that actually.

I actually had a girl come into my work just today and tell us how she had a signed photoof Eddie Guererro (wrestler) and she scanned them and was printing them off and selling them.

I guess just pay alot of attention to what's on there, do alot of searching, and pay attention to the description and pictures. Don't be afriad to ask for more pictures.

And most of all, don't get your hopes up too much. Even the fakest stuff can look genuine.

Maybe ask the seller a few questions before you commit to the auction, any questions that you might have. If they don't reply then that might indicate something.

I personally would be very sceptical, but that's not to say that you can't or won't find genuine signed memorabilia.

On ebay? I personally wouldn't buy things like that from Ebay. But that's just me. And the 40gb version that they have just released here, isn't "new". It was always in the works at the same time as the 60gb one, they just released the 60gb one first

I'm annoyed. I bought a Christian Audigier hoodie from a seller that had 100% (155) feedback and I havent heard anything from him yet. I lost the auction originally but was given a second chance offer to buy the hoodie straight out. I paid straight away with Paypal and after two emails, I haven't heard anything. It's only been five days but I figured that since I paid straight away that I'd get some feedback at least.

So should I wait it out and then make a complaint if nothing happens??

I have had alot of sellers that either haven't, or have taken a very long time to get in contact with me.

I usually give it 2 weeks, both oas a buyer and a seller. If you haven't heard or received anything then I would open a dispute.

I'd give it til end of next week, then if no contact or item (if being posted within aus) then open a dispute.

I think second chance offers are great. Especially if you are genuiely keen on getting the item. And you only bid as much as you are willing to pay.

How does this second chance thing work? I've never had it, I've always won the bid 1st time round lol

If a seller has mulitple items then they can offer you the item at the second highest bid as a "buy it now". Gets them an easy sale. And saves you having to do the bid war thing all over again.
