I know a few of us are into surfing in all its forms so i thought i'd stick a thread up where we can tell of our surfing exploits. No matter whether you are a bodyboarder like my self or surf stand up or into waveski's ( goat boats) post all your fav surf spots here too.

Well i have been surfing on and off for about the last 10 years. All of them have been on bodyboards never really tried stand up just doesn;t appeal to me. Had a small stint on a wave ski as well for a while..... was easy to catch waves but paddles smacking you in the face sort of put me off haha laugh.gif. Most of my fav spots are here local to me. South beaches like parsons and waits are my fav beaches have had them as a solid 4 ft + many times. One time we had 5 ft and the sea was like a sheet of glass that will be my fav surf ever was about 6am. smile.gif

Biggest surf i have ever had were some 8 ft+ monsters at a place called bullies down near victor harobor/ pt elliot. was one insane day thats for sure. biggrin.gif

Fav surf sopt would have to be yourkes. Surfers camp and a few of the other spots like daily head, lizzards etc are always a wicked day out. tongue.gif

the place to go for info on surf forecatsts, web cams of southport (mid coast) and knights ( pt elliot) lots of interesting stuff on there.

I have spare board etc anyone wanting to give it a go i would have no drama's in having anyone tag along if they want to give it a go. biggrin.gif the mid coast which is like 10 min from my house is an excellent learning ground for beginners. THEN we can go tackle some 6ft monsers down near victor hehe biggrin.gif

i'm a keen bodysurfer, and have been on long boards a couple of times but that about it. love it tho - there's something really powerful (der!) about the waves and being able to catch and ride that is pretty special smile.gif

then again maybe i just love being on the coast - sand, sun and water makes for a very relaxed and comfy T ... when it gets warm again lets all get down to a cruisy midcoast beach and have some pina coladas cool.gif good call boosting!

and i know mich will love it too - i swear she is solar-powered biggrin.gif

laugh.gif damn straight - i live off the energy from the sun... everything is a billion times better in summer when the heat is on, the beaches are lovely and the water is nice. I'm the original beach baby I think so would definitely be down for any beach activity going on! Might not have any coordination and haven't got anywhere near a board in years but I'll give it a go!

Hey i'm a surfer i never said i was GOOD hahahaha laugh.gif laugh.gif i have a ball thought every time i go out. Will plan ahead and keep checking surf forcasts and will post up where and when i go out then anyone can join in if they like. With surf being so unreliable like the weather you sort of just have to go when its good etc, planning a beach day will most likely end up with us building sand castles hehe biggrin.gif

I agree with mitch and toby i LOVE the sun and the beach and the surf. I feel like i'm alove agian after rediscovering somthing i was sooo passionate baout when i was younger going out wed night after over 12 months out of it was the best thing i ever did biggrin.gif

oooh thats large

i used to body board many moons ago. im scared of sharks now though. i know 2 people (brothers) who were bitten quite badly on 2 different occasions. they scare me a lot

i want to get into skim boarding. love that shit, and these days you can buy actual dedicated boards for it instead of using your body board, which is what us old men use to do.

im getting one soon.

yeah love skim boarding!

I am into kite surfing , well when I get the time to get off my arse and get back into it!
crIs P
ah its really cool actually. basically you wait for a wave to come (standing on the shore) and then once it has rolled back and leaves that nice thin layer of water across the sand, you then run at it and throw the board down, and then jump on the board and surf it.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can surf the internet laugh.gif i'm so lame...

I would love to be able to surf. Never given it a go, which is sad. And since i know 3 people who have been eaten.. hmm.. bit scary cause i don't know if i'm a real confident swimmer
mich
i cant swim at all and I still get in there!!! just don't go out too deep.

I get it now - have seen lots of people skim boarding... actually in the water is probably more my thing though, I'd miss the board all the time and end up with sand burns everywhere!

growing up on the west coast Eyre Peninsula, surfing sailing diving water skiing anything water related!!

ive surfed waves big enuff to snap my board in half, snap leg ropes, surfed roof hight monsters, see tubes big enuff to drive a doubel decker bus thru, and had a pro body boarder refuse to paddle out with us... mind u ... i sat on the cliff and watched that day, after taking a pounding on a shallow reef break that was solid 6+foot fast and hard!

when i left port lincoln i left a 9' malibu, a 6'4"aloha thruster a 6'6" aloha thruster and a 7' step tail single fin,

thats my only regret about leaving the place.. that i left my baords there.. id love to get a nice 8' mini mal or maybe even a 6'10" thruster and try and get back into it..

ive lost two mates to white pointers, one surfing oen abalone diving, another mate with bite marks across his leg and guts, and ive had a run in with an 8' bronzie that was a little curious at a reef break..

ive surfed waves that where liquid glass, only to become a mirror when a school of 4-5pound salmon swam on to teh wave i was riding..

ive shared waves with dolphins, in awe or their movments and grace and power.

and ive eaten reef.. sand.. and salt water so often in my life its not funny wink.gif

use to love the camping trips and surfing for days on end.

if anyone wishes, i have " In Gods Hands" at home. story of big wave surfing. awesome movie.

will chat more in here soon!

i woudl be masively rusty.. and i doubt my wet suites will even fit any more..

but im willingt o give it a go some time soon!
BOOSTING
DUDE get your board, today would be a good day to pracice on the mini mal for sure. I too have had the pleasure and i do mean pleasure of surfing with dolphins. I took off on this wave at pondie down at yorkes and then i look either side of me and there were dolphins along the face of the wave they hung around and swam with us for about half hour or so but felt much longer. They caught every wave we were on too they loved it as much as we did i'm sure. That is just one of the little things that makes me lovesurfing so much.

I'm going to mid coast surf tonight to get some flipper sox to help stop blisters from my flippers then headding out on the mid for some inconsistant 2 footers, will be good to practice 360 spins and drop knee if i can still do it haha.

Was watching the web cam for knights beach before they are geting some 3-4 foot waves through but sad.gif don;t have enough time to get there and back tonight sad.gif the mid will have to do.

Get your board mate as i plan to get a wettie and go out a fair bit over winter too.

OH and that vid i might steal it off you tonight when i drop round gottta see that. biggrin.gif

I have always loved bodyboarding and been doing it for years here and there whenever the oppurtunity rears it's head.

Me and my partner always go to Middleton, he's been going there for ages! And last time we went the waves were AWESOME, fair decent size too.

I'm very keen to get back into it, just waitting on my poor car's diff to get fixed...Don't think it'll make the distance at the moment, and with the sputtering and the backfiring I'm not willing to take the chance either.

ok. looks liek im on teh hunt for anotehr board then... wonder what teh rx7 will look like with roof racks ???

Was last night worth the hype Mr Boosty? tongue.gif

mad.gif No sad.gif

The wind we had over the weekend blew crap out of it. The mid coast saw basically nothing but knights down south scored a few 6ft sets which would have been good but i was stuck at work.

I am planning on taking some time off work soon doing a few trips to victor or even camping down there for a few days and getting in some much needed big wave action biggrin.gif If anyone is interested in a down south surf trip PM me and i'll work out exactly what the dates are. biggrin.gif

My olds are trying to get me to go over to syd to check the place out. I keep stalling and telling em later.....later..... . After last sunday's surf there might have to take them up on the offer i think.
