Okies.. I've read a few books in the past weeks.... I've basically sworn of television (although I still plan to watch movies). These are 3 that I've finished and I've got 3 more I'm nearly thru!

Lance Armstrong: It's not about the Bike!

This make came back from 20% chance of surviving testicular cancer that had spread to his chest, lungs and brain to win the Tour De France twice at the writing of the book... and I think he's one it 4 more times since then!!

It's a fraking amazing read.. get onto it!

Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump: Why We Want You To Be Rich

This is another great book about financial IQ and education. This book talks about your state of mind and many of the thing you can do to help yourself...

I've read most of Robert Kiyosaki's book, over the years... I think his best seller 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' was the first financial book about building your future that I ever read... I still recommend it to anyone that want to understand more about taking control of their financial lives.

Why We Want You To Be Rich, is a great book.. it’s written in two different tones because both Donald and Robert have their say!

Donald Trump: How To Get Rich

Didn't think much of Donald Trump before I read this book, wasn't impress with The Apprentice and thought I wasn't very insightful. After reading this book.. I plan to read all of his material.

He's every insightful and very powerful... I like his ideas and he is very similar in his philosophies as many of the other great leaders of the past.

Read It.. Today...

This is a really good thread idea. Would it be possible to please incorporate some kind of book swapping thing into it? I'm always looking for something new and interesting to read but books are pretty expensive if you buy them. SO! If you have an awesome book you would like to temporarily trade with me for a book I have read and enjoyed, PM me or post here biggrin.gif

I've got smile.gif smile.gif

>>> Lance Armstrong: It's not about the Bike
>>> Lauren Weisberger: The Devil Wear Prada

I have them there to swap from something MOTIVATIONAL, INSPRIATIONAL or FINANCIALLY EDUCATIONAL.

PS I'm not good a returning books.. I usually swap... It's just safer that way!

We should've started a thread like this earlier...

As far as motivational I have:

Sales Dogs
Part of Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad's Advisor Series, this program offers high-quality sales and personal development strategies. Singer has a can-do approach that doesn't wait for help from bosses or other authority figures. He teaches unflappable salesmanship that is relentlessly positive, 100% committed, and totally focused on serving your customers. His insights about sales relationships are priceless, and he is articulate when dismissing sales approaches that are too aggressive, too general, or too short on passion and honesty. By leveraging your strengths, which Singer categorizes into five "breeds" of sales dogs, you can move past your competition in any product line or service. An intuitive lesson on how to be a high-quality sales professional.

**I'm a Chihuahua/Basset Hound for anyone who has read the book

Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps: How We're Different and What to Do About It
Ever wonder why women can brush their teeth while walking and talking on various subjects while men generally find this very difficult to do? Why 99 percent of all patents are registered by men? Why stressed women talk? Why so many husbands hate shopping? According to Barbara and Allan Pease, science now confirms that "the way our brains are wired and the hormones pulsing through our bodies are the two factors that largely dictate, long before we are born, how we will think and behave. Our instincts are simply our genes determining how our bodies will behave in given sets of circumstances." That's right: socialization, politics, or upbringing aside, men and women have profound brain differences and are intrinsically inclined to act in distinct--and consequently frustrating--ways.

**Some people dont like this for some reason, I found it a good insight to dealing with different people

I also have lots of Stephen King, as far as fiction goes he's probably the most philosophical writer i know...
missvixenr
can i BORROW 'Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps' please Fulcrum? - im not really a book person so dont really have anything to offer back... might be able to find something tho smile.gif

ps i can read a map (without turning it upside down)

Most chicks are hopeless.. ie, walk into a store, have NO idea which way they came from! I'm above average for spatio-temporal tasks, like in all tests i get 100%, can remember how to get about cities i've only visited once, even if its 10 years later (yes i'm a freak!)

But then again, women are really good at multi tasking! guys... no way!

Most of the books i own are to do with tarot, dreams, runes, birthdays and their meanings, mostly that sort of stuff and i can be a little precious about them (cause i use them all the time). But i have a book by Fiona Horne - the Coven. It's about bringing magic into your life everyday and about sharing it with others. Heaps easy read, and if you're into that sort of stuff it's quite intersting. She is very well known for her public witchcraft and kinda made it publically more acceptable (guess cause she's one of the first ones to look hot and not scarey!) I know Hailey may be interested in something like that.

Will do a 'temporary swap' on anything to do with that sort of thing smile.gif

Fulcrumr
Ok will temp swap out why men dont listen to missvixen then candy_cat smile.gif

got anything that i might be interested in?

i'm still 1/2 way thru a novel so i wouldn't get around to it for a while...
Elektro Kittenr
Yeah i've a wicked one i'm still trying to finish - Ray Kurzwells - the age of spiritual machines

It's all about technology, and how it's the next stage in evolution. Goes back and explains a lot about our place in the universe, what to expect, and a lot about the computer age we live in. The book was written back in 1997, but still holds very realistic estimates about our capabilities of computing, and the next stages of technological conciousness.

When i'm done, i will happily lend it to any one smile.gif

I'd be keen for that, once I've finished what I've got atm laugh.gif

currently reading Belle D'Jour. (courtesy of SMP about 12 months ago and I still haven't finished the damn thing laugh.gif )

its a diary of a high class prostitute in London. Very interesting read.

Before that I read Memoirs of a Geisha... BRILLIANT book. Way better than the movie!

I also have here "Mao's last Dancer"

its a story of a child that grew up in a poverty stricken town in China in the era of Mao Tse Tung (sp?) and about his families struggles. Then he gets chosen at a young age to go to Madame Mao's school - which is a ballet/arts school. it then goes through him becoming one of China's finest ballet dancers - and being chosen to travel to the USA to dance. While there, decides to stay there, and then goes through all of the ups and downs he experiences becoming westernized and turning his back on his friends at home, his country, and his family.

I really enjoyed it... awesome book!

I've also got the Da Vinci Code here to read... I'll get there one day laugh.gif

all of these books are on offer if anyone would like to borrow them! smile.gif

Yeah when i'm done (which may be a few weeks yet) but i'll promise you can have it after me wink.gif

And sure Paul you can read it laugh.gif it's pretty gurly based, but there are pictures on Fiona in it, so it might make it alright laugh.gif ... a lot of it involves spell work and and circles (which if you believe in the power of intent really are effective!) but all very light hearted way to look at it smile.gif

Em - Have you read Red Velvet - Memoirs of a working girl by Lisa Lou? It's the same sort of story but an Aussie girl. Awesome read, got me a bit emotional at times but that just proves it's good writing! Would be happy to exchange for witch, I'm yet to read any of Fiona Horne's books thanks to my overbearing religious parents but I think I'm old enough to make my own decisions now wink.gif

The Hardcover version?? I dont want the softback coz I'm terrible with those kinda books. It is one book but it's actually made up of four individual books. I think the current ones have been re-written and don't have anything similar to the contents of the original. Aww...thanks Gabbie.
