I believe the associated colours for the day are green white and purple, not that I have any idea why..

Yeah I knew. We celebrated it in Russia. When we moved here we continued to do so. Mum gets flowers and chocolates etc etc. Some of my russian female friends I send an SMS to saying Happy Womans day etc etc.
I knew it was today... It says it on my calander!

I think its nice to celebrate many different aspects of life. Be it about being a mother, a war vet, a woman etc... I think it's lovely. People often don't feel special. I think this is a good excuse to be proud to be a woman - if you already aren't
