Watched Napoleon Dynamite.

From a filmmaker's perspective I have to say that it was terrible...but as a cult film it friggin rocks! Thats completely a personal opinion though. You really have to give it a chance to let it grow on you...and its a weird sort of humour that will only appeal to a very small amount of people.

I watched Madagascar on the same day and it is soooo much better. Give me a good animation any day and it will win over the creepy independent films.... that said... when I make my own creepy independent film make sure you go and see it! tongue.gif

Vote for Pedro!

Started to watch Monster Inc on the weekend but got turned off as i got dragged out. Have to finnish watching it as it was pretty good. Starting to get into these kids animations makes me wish i was a kid again!
cashew
i watched red eye on the weekend... i really didnt like it... it bored me... the ending was really weak... was not impressed!!

i also saw monster in law... i liked this movie, i like j-lo as an actress (i know many people dont) and it was a nice girly movie... biggrin.gif

just saw Lords of Dogtown, pretty av, even for someone who likes sk8ing - but has never seriously done it. bout to rip then watch War of the Worlds then Deuce Bigallo Euro Manwhore, will stay posted smile.gif

courtz_bvcru87
Just recently saw Wolf Creek

Its good for a Australian film and the budget they had, but it was a bit squirmish...

Some bits were good other bits I couldn't watch like when he dug the knife into the chicks spine and twisted it...ok it was pretty cool laugh.gif
mich
courtz i'm disappointed in you... i was probably one of the only people who saw it who wanted to walk out because it wasn't scary and gory enough.. i beleive I even dozed off for a little bit during it.

i saw that follow up to house of 1000 corpses (Devils Rejects?) on the weekend, loved it... crazy as hell family doing crazy as hell things, like growing up at our house except without the clown for a dad!! liked it for the pure gore component, stupid story line but you can't have it all!

we saw another scary movie too... so scary and such a good movie the name of it escapes me... wacko.gif

Hun it wasn't scary just some bits were abit too much for me when that guy had that girl tied up and he was going to rape her...I don't like that stuff! It was good when he blew that guys brains out hehe!

I thought the devils rejects was crap Mich, wasn't anything like the first one....heaps dissapointed I wanted horror!

On another note saw the exorcism the newer one that was WICKED hehe maggot babies and all smile.gif
mich
oh yeah.. that's the second one we saw.. thanks for the reminder!!! Exorcism of Emily Rose... I did like it quite a bit, so pissed that the devils in her didn't kill people or hurt anyone else!!! I kind of expected the story line to be a bit more solid so was a little let done by that aspect.

i'm not much of a fan of the rape scenes either hun, I avert my eyes... just with all the hype over wolfcreek i was so let down! (we paid money to see it in a cinema even!!)

and I knew from the first that devils rejects would make no sense whatsoever but I wanted the gore and I got it!! altho there was more of it in the first one I think which probably makes that one better.... i think it was the final gun scene that got me... loved the ending.. shoot till you die!!!
courtz_bvcru87
Or when they put that mask on the chick and the cleaner finds her and she runs out and hits the truck and her guts are spread out everywhere hehe that looked wicked biggrin.gif

GORE!!

oh yeah... it was that other guys face they put on her... one of the guys the brother took out and killed (her b/f i think) ... quality. GORE is GOOD!!! that poor maid who came to clean the room didn't know what to think, would have been funny if the chick ran the maid onto the road and they both got cleaned up by the truck. nice....
foonji
lol, i havent seen these movies... but by wat u are saying, i must smile.gif

especially wolf creek, want to check out the CG they did smile.gif

btw, i'm back again for the renegade master dry.gif
mich
right up your alley foonji gore man.. you'll like 'em even if the story lines are fucked... the guns and weaponry alone are worth it!!
courtz_bvcru87
You better see them *shakes fist*

You like gore hey....have to go catch a movie smile.gif Mmmm horror biggrin.gif
foonji
yeh, i don't mind teh gore smile.gif so when i look down at my leg and its blown clean off, it looks just like a scratch, keep fightin on, nec asperra terrent! *hehe thinks of holy grail*

we shall have to courtz smile.gif once i gets back from bein a war'y basturd.

lets make some horror short films, hehe, i got a goth'y mate who would love to do it smile.gif
Tarantula
i saw cube zero the other day well after proteus i watched it 2 wice
Jutsin
Wolf Creek was pretty dodgey. I was expecting horror, considering many people had told me it was hideously scary - so it was all the hype that made it such a let down.

I just watched Dark Water (the American version) - it's pretty decent, it sticks almost completely to the story of the Japanese one .. but for some reason I still like the Jap version better.
foonji
just watched Napoleon Dynamite, was hilarious biggrin.gif does have a unique feel to it, but it was great smile.gif

napoleon reminds me of me laugh.gif
DarkNRG
I saw that new movie Aeon Flux with that Charlize Theron chick in it, not a bad movie. I thought it was a bit hard to follow, may have been easier if i had seen some of the anime. Any one else seen it, if so what'd u think
foonji
kewl DarkNRG, i'm going to see it tonight smile.gif
Harley
Watched Wedding Crashes on Friday night good funny movie
Go the Motor Boat! biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Also watched Evolution again yesterday. Good film with some funny moments
courtz_bvcru87
I watched "The Island" the other day thought it was a great movie except for the ending (which didn't make sense) smile.gif
Konstantine
I didnt like "the island" much. It started out great, though I was in for a good film experiance, but then towards the middle it just got WAAAAAAAAAY to out there. tongue.gif
Jutsin
Just watched UltraViolet.

All I have to say is: "lol"

What a terrible movie sad.gif
LadyK
I went and saw 'when a stranger calls'- it was scary sad.gif spent most or the time hiding behind scotts hand/shirt- although im a great big scaredy cat so most other ppl will think its lame laugh.gif
Ravvy
Pink Panther...
verdict for me:
funny in so many ways but a little dragged on... but definately PINK PANTHER style which i was glad of...

verdict of my friend:
it made her laugh... and she's picky tongue.gif

possible truth verdict:
maybe lack of sleep helped the situation... i'd like to watch it again to be sure... lol
AnGeL^EyEs
The 40 year old virgin

Highly recommend you see it, if you haven't. Its hailarious!!!

Lol, i saw that on saturday, i love it, and each time you see it you find more and more things in it. Just a pity it drags on so long...

While not really a movie, i have just watched a really wierd anime series, and consequently very funny, anime series called galaxy angels. i seriously suggest it to anyone with an interest in sketchy anime on recovery days smile.gif
crIs P
requim for a dream

saw it last night. seen it before. never fails to shock though. great movie if you like to cringe....
mich
agreed cris... love the movie for the rawness (not sure if that's the right word for it but can't think of a more appropriate one at the moment!) of it, exposes the seedier side I guess....a bit of an eye opener too if you choose to take it that way.. more people into what the movie is about should watch it.... might give them a bit of a shock but also might open their eye's a little bit.

we saw SAW 2 and DOOM on the weekend... I fell asleep during DOOM..obviously not that impressed by it... I didn't mind Saw2 but the ending was really sucky... they're so going to make a third on!!!

also saw the fog... fell asleep again.... i can see why most people haven't enjoyed it!
incognito
Say when a stranger calls my self... didnt really find it too scarey at all

maybe ive just desensitised myself from horror movies

now... where did i leave my hacksaw, I can still hear that weirdo screaming downstairs
Jutsin
Just saw Night Watch, and Night Watch 2 (aka Day Watch) .. I liked the first one better, mainly because the plot didn't go super crazy, and it was easier to follow with it being dubbed in English and not having subtitles.. number 2 seemed really chaotic, which made it even harder to watch because of constantly reading broken English subs!
philbert
Requium for a dream, veeeeeerry intense movie... nearly made me ralf when his arm was turning to cheese at the end.

hired "land of the zombies" even though i only paid $1 for the rental, love tuesdays at the local, i still feel ripped off. to sumarise the whole movie, PIECE OF SHIT!!!

7 Seconds - Wesley Snipes
typical action film, predictable, blah, blah...

i was talkin to one of my friends yesterday and we came to the agreement that shit's only scary when it's believeable. zombies, pfft, aliens, pfft, i want a movie that's believable god damn it! what the fuck it up with action films where everyone is always looking the same direction, you try that shit in RL, real life, and you'll get fucked up royally real quick, where's ya point man and rear cover?!?! i want to see an action film where the all american solo hero get's fucked up by some guy who doubled back and capped his arse cos he didn't watch his own back and was too busy running in the open doing a hasselhoff!!! THAT i will pay to see!

just for the record, when bullets go through petrol tanks they just make 2 holes, entry and exit, no big arse BOOM, unless they spark on something... and with shooting unless a person was jumping backward there's no way in hell a bullet can knock a man over, most people fall in a heap after being shot, so i've heard..... smile.gif

my 10 cents

so, has anyone seen a believable movie of late?...

one more Q...

how many good sequals have ever been made that were as good or better than the original film? now ask yourself how many sequals SUCKED ARSE?!? fuck i hate hollywood how they try and capitalise on a sound good idea, they always fuck the original movie! like people who churn out mashies and such, if the original track was good, leave it alone!! how about people try and excercise their creativity and come up with something new... yes there are some good remixes and the like but they are few and far between...

ok, that was worth $2.50...

The liquid form of petrol is it's safest state, and you would need more than just a spark to ignite it, so even if the slug and petrol tank friction caused a spark.. there still would be no boom tongue.gif

.. also, a bullet will knock you back/over if it hits you. It's simple physics, the force of the moving bullet goes THROUGH your body, whether the bullet ends up inside you, or creates an exit wound. The force, in most cases, is enough to throw someone back biggrin.gif

if it hits a bone it'll give ya a kick but most bullets aren't of high enough calibre, where's foonji?!?!?

bullet = 9g approx = .009kg's (riffle bullet)
speed = 3000 KM/h = average of 800m/s (can be 180-1500m/s)

velocity * mass = force
3000 * .009 = 27Kg's

round figures for a 7.62mm, pretty damn big for your average riffle, round that i admit will give someone a hell of a kick but pistols and smg's ain't got shit!

back on topic, has anyone seen Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle???

the 357 Magnum isn't a hang gun, it's a freakin cannon!!! laugh.gif

Watched a few good ones on the weekend. Watched Casino and Dead Presidents. Both are excellent vids for sure

CRY WOLF

Watched it last night and I was pleasantly surprised, for a movie with no known actors, EXCEPT JON BON JOVI (omg awesome lol) the acting was FANTASTIC and the storyline, so so so so so so good...

But that's just my opinion and it's probly biased cuz I have a crush on Dodger & the British guy, lol lol.

G.
Little Bear
THE WORLS FASTEST INDIAN

awesome movie it reminds you of the fact that you should follow your dream and not to let anythingget in the way..

I would have to say though it's not anthony hopkins best roll ever.. but he did it as well as he could..

It does drag a little but it is nessisary for the movie in my opinion..

all in all I enjoyed it and it has renewed my out look on olife that alll can be acheved I do recommend this movie..

*the bike is crazy!!!!!
HEFTY
Had to sit through Basic Instinct 2. Not worth the plastic its on (Bali copy) so that's pretty cheap smile.gif
Must say that Sharon Stone looks amazing for a woman of her age tongue.gif
And yes before all you girls go crook, I know she can afford all the things in life that keep you looking good, but 'DAMN' was the only good thing about the movie
Harley
Watched Ned Kelly yesrterday. A bloody excellent film for sure. Dont know why i hadnt seen it before

I took my boys to see Ice Age 2 thursday... very funny, I rate it at least as good as the original... those possums will create a bit of a cult following I think!!

I watched Cry Wolf last night on dvd... it was very predictable and I'm sure that anyone who's seen it would agree!! watchable, but I'd be dissappointed paying $15 to see it at the cinemas
Gabtron
Date Movie.

I don't know why I thought it would be a good idea. I should have learned from previous mistakes such as Scary Movie and Not another teen movie etc etc, I need to learn that I don't find that "give it to you on a spoon" kinda humour funny at all.

Lame lame McLame lame.

Has anyone seen She's the Man? I reckon it looks wicked and I heaps wanna go see it :-)

Saw V for Vendetta last night OMG - what an unbeliveably fantastic movie!!!! Love a film that blows stuff up, has sword fighting, lots of blood, a tiny hint of romance, loads of metaphor and is also really, really topical right now with all the conspiracies and government bulls*@ going on - this film really makes you think. My favourite line, which is SO appropriate at the moment "People should not be afraid of their government, governments should be afraid of their people".

Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!! Highly recommended smile.gif

Is that the one that the guy who stars in it is a film student & he just decided to make this movie with his mates - and it then ended up winning all these awards & attention from overseas independent flim houses etc? I think I've seen a bit about it on TV - it looks pretty cool & now I know it's on DVD, I'll have to go have a look. Ta!

went to get books on quantum physics after seeing it but they seemed a lot more complicated. i guess the movie puts it all into laymans terms, would like to learn more about it. any suggestions?
Nitrous
borders has some good books on it. They're comparitively simple, but it really is a hard and confusing subject to get into, but i encourage anyone who liked the movie to at least look into it, the deeper you go, the more interesting it becomes (i mean, come one, bubble fusion? awesome smile.gif )

nah... not much of fan of religion or any of it's associated conspiracies, the book waffled on a bit much for my liking and the main character struck me as a bit of a fop, explains why forrest gump is playing him in the movie. I think some people either liked or hated it, not many had the in between, i'll see the movie when it comes out on DVD if they let me hire it for free but the book alone didn't inspire me or get me to think at all... a shame. I read ALLOT (2-3 books a week) so my standards are probably a bit high but still, it's nice to be challenged by a book and or movie rather than bored by it. Just my opinion!

Fair enough. smile.gif

I love my conspiracy theory mumbo jumbo, even if I know full well that its a load of crap... LOL.

At first though I thought it was a better book than Da Vinci Code... but about 2/3 of the way in to it I'm starting to change my mind. I dunno.... I'll give a deffinate rating once Im done with it.

i saw x-men 3 last week... was good but not great... i liked number 1 better... biggrin.gif

Tonight I saw X-Men 3 and it was all kinds of good. The bit after the credits was kinda predictable *roll-eyes* altho most of it was... but it was still fucking wicked!

AS FOR SERENITY (Which kicks arse in a way I never thought possible, considering my least favourite genre's are Sci Fi & Country/Western, lol! I have all of Firefly if anyone wants to have a Joss Whedon marathon.

Hired a few DVD's last weekend The Brothers Grimm was pretty crap. Valiant was ok, nowhere near as good as some of the other animated films though. Alien V Predator was pretty silly, but I loved the FX!!

just got back from the cinema....saw pirates of the caribbean 2 (mmm johnny wub.gif )

i went with 7 members of my family and davin

...everyone in my family thought it was enjoyable....however not as good as the first

davin and i found it rather boring

great perve for those who like johnny, keira, or orlando

some good and funny fight scenes

too much fast action with the camera....it made it very hard to see what was going on

the script writers tried to relate it back to the first movie too much and crack the same sort of jokes

i must say that orlandos acting has improved since the first movie

while the movie had its good points and scenes....overall i rated it rather low

....dissappointing for a depp movie!!

ps. there is a ten second clip at the end after the credits.......the credits go on and on.....so maybe the clip is worth watchin if you rent it on dvd....however its a nice little ending

I saw that on Friday night, its way longer than it should have been. By the end it just feels like they're pulling it out just to kill time. Loving Davey Jones theme though, those pipe organs are teh shit!

First one was better in regards to actual content within the movie....a few good parts in this one, but really...once you've seen one movie about undead pirates, theres no glamour about seeing more undead pirates again...but damn that Kraken kicks ass.

3rd one had better bring up the par, dont want it to go out on a low note..

Saw Superman the other day....too long, no substance, Smallville has better plots in an hour long episode than this did in an almost 3hour movie. Only good thing was him getting the crap kicked out of him and almost dying...at least that hasnt been done before....well, not as good as this. Lex Luther sucked ass, what type of 'take over the world and kill Superman too' plot was that? God the writers crapped out on this one. Are they making a sequel to it? Cause they left a few unanswered questions, like the kid and Lois and all..
Aeon
everything in that superman movie looks way too cgi and airbrushed, im suprised they actualy gave the lead acting credits, most of it looks done by a computer

V for Vendetta - interesting plot, good action, wicked overall smile.gif

The Da Vinci Code - liked it a lot .. haven't read the book though, I'll give that a try next.

Omen 666 - it was semi-okay.

Pirates of the Carribean 2 - fucking WIIIIIIIIIIICKED. One of the best movies ever, for sure. Can't wait till the third one comes out now.

Silent Hill - quite fantastic, I'd say this one is going to be horror of the year for 2006 .. at least that is what it deserves smile.gif

Now that I think about it, te puppets is probably what made it less funny to me... although I'm fully aware of how difficult and time consuming it is making a film with puppets, i'd much rather see real life actors as apposed to dolls.

Okay hmm...
This past weekend i watched:
Hostel
Ocean's 12
Bowling For Columbine (again)
Wedding Crashers
&
Requiem For A Dream (again)

Hostel
was absolute crap! It was all about the gore, and that was easily bareable due to how fake it looked! Acting and storyline was an absolute crock of crap!

Ocean's 12 wasn't too bad. Certainly had its moments where i was completely lost due to a bit of cryptic-ness. But all in all it was a decent film. Certainly no match for its predecessor.

Bowling For Columbine was wicked. Not much really needs to be said about this one i don't think. A really brilliant and eye-opening film. If you havent seen it yet... Where the hell have you been!?

Wedding Crashers was cool. Okay, here's my verdict on this one. Not great, but alright. I mean, i wouldn't have wanted to pay $12 at the movies to see it, but that fact that i saw it at home one the couch was mates, was a cool movie.

Requiem For A Dream is an absolute killer of a movie! This movie is intense. Literally, the first time i saw it i just sat there for a few mins afterwards mouth agape, eyes wide. Its really well done. And wow... Its just good! See it!

I watched Harrison Ford's latest movie Firewall (ntsc version) last night. Awesome movie. A very nice plot regarding blackmailing and kidnapping; and Paul Bettany (Da Vinci Code, Wimbledon) plays a very good (albeit...bit more chubbier) villain. But I think its just a "watch once" movie coz theres so much suspense. Definite 9/10 plus Harrison Ford is a fantastic actor as is Paul Bettany.

brilliant, had a great time... (even given the cinema was stacked full of kids!)
it is a bit slow in some areas... but it is a kids movie! still, better then i ever expected.

Watch March of the Penguins sat night as CrisP said it was a good movie. Yep a real good movie loved it. Great how it was put together very clever
Dragoon
i watched
green street hooligans last night
and it was a really good movie
i give it smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif out of smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

and the fight scenes where really detailed (which was pretty much the whole movie )
but Elija Wood was to camp to play a tough soccor fan though it kind off gave the movie a bit of comedy relief when he goes in for his first punch ha ha ha
and there was this lame soccor theme song which was classic something about blowing bubbles lmfao and blowing bubbles in the air pretty funny laugh.gif

Million Dollar Baby - A fair movie, a drama based on the rise and fall of a boxer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_dollar_baby

BloodRayne - For all the hype and how good the games were the movie was complete shithouse. The movie is more like a 1990s uni student project then a casted production.

Planning to see

Silent Hill, The games used to freak me out as a kid, only game or movie to have ever done that so the movie should be interesting.

Johnny Depp (in my opinion) often makes movies what they are.

If you look at Pirates 1 and 2 - the story plays out like Pantemime, it's a kids story almost and would pretty much be shit if the actors didn't make it what it was. Depp played a huge part in that.

All his movies in fact .. he has such a wide scope and I want to have his babies.

who would have thought quantum phsyics could be so fascinating?!

finally got to see this movie and was blown away thought it was pretty amazing. Gave me a whole new appreciation of quantum physics....................

Then I decided to surf the net afterwards to find out more about it and found out that the strange blonde woman with too much makeup is a known charlaton who is apparently channelling the spirit of a 35,000 year old warrior named ramtha! no really look it up its all over the net. Apparently the 3 directors are all a part of her cult of enlightenment or what ever they call it.

I felt decieved and misled all of a sudden!

Gotta tell you I was pissed off, thought I had found an amazing movie that turned out to be a subversive way to attract people toward their cultish religion.

It was certainly an interesting movie with some interesting concepts but take it with a grain of salt apparently some of the physics is true but some is way off.

sorry if I ruined it for anyone just wanted to share my thoughts!

Silent Hill
Very good movie, they didnt fuck it up like most game genre to movie genre movies. They arnt trying to be the game. They are just using the storyline from the game as a basis for a idea for a movie. Worth seeing at the cinemas ;d

Flight 93
The sept 11 plane movie. Very american, not bad, not good either though.

Watched V for Vendetta and also Memiors of a Ghesia. Two good movies.

Ultraviolet was cool purely because of the action scenes and the concept - but they left a lot to be desired.

Well, i "acquired" it and gave it a look not knowing what to expect or even what it was about in the first place and to sum it up, it's a futuristic vampire movie that's not really about vampires in the every day sense.

I think the director pulled it off exactly the way he wanted to, for the type of movie it was it rocked, just don't think it's the best way to tell a story, if there was a story to tell. The plot of it was cool, just needed a better script. If you're in to really in depth movies you'll hate this but if ya like an over the top technofest with plenty of CG then get it, you'll love it wink.gif

I just watched this awesome low-budget movie on SBS called The Finished People. Its an awesome Aussie movie about youth battling everyday issues like drugs, teen parenthood, homelessness, etc. I could so relate to a lot of issues that were on there.

THE FINISHED PEOPLE was shot in Cabramatta with a cast of non-professionals. It's a film of extraordinary emotional honesty and compassion that goes far beyond the media stereotypes of street kids and into their world of daily struggles, their troubled past and their dreams for the future.

For six months, the director, Khoa Do worked as a volunteer with "at risk" kids in Cabramatta to prepare for the film. The cast included former heroin addicts, homeless youths and convicted criminals on parole. Filming took place around cast commitments including one cast member attending a methadone clinic in the mornings, and another cast member who was on parole and who had to sign in at Green Valley Police Station each afternoon.

Three stories are intertwined in the film, following three main characters: Tommy, a 23 year-old of Polish background who has been fighting a personal war against heroin since he was 13; Van, a 20 year-old from a Vietnamese family who left home because of his abusive father, and sleeps in a carpark in Cabramatta; and Des, a 17 year old youth who joins a street-gang to get money to help his sick girl-friend.

In 2001-2, the director, Khoa Do, won over ten international awards for his outstanding short film DELIVERY DAY (distributed in Australia by Ronin Films). THE FINISHED PEOPLE is his first feature. For his films and his community work, Khoa Do was voted Young Vietnamese-Australian of the Year 2000 and Bankstown's Young Citizen of the Year 2001. He was also awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003.

Khoa Do co-produced the film with his brother, Anh Do, a writer, actor and stand-up comic who also takes a small role in the film as a factory worker. Anh Do was the 1999 Sydney Comedian of the Year, and has appeared as a guest on The Footy Show among others, as well as playing character roles in TV series such as Sea Change and Pizza.

Digging through the old dvds i ended up watching the Cowboy bebop movie, knocking on heavens door. an inconveniant truth did a good job of what it was supposed to do, comminicate the problem of global warming to the average person. honestly i found it a little booring as i was generaly up to date with all the data etc he was using, quite a well presented argument.

"Thankyou for Smoking" was fantastic, realy funny a very black humor which i very much enjoy, for anyone who likes the way that spin and manipulating people works this is a gem

i know this probs isnt the right place but a mickey mouse cartoon taken off the air coz it was too violent/scary for kids

From the website i found it on
"Want to celebrate Halloween with a Mickey Mouse cartoon that scared little children? In the mid ninties, Disney took a (single) stab at making new Mickey Mouse theatrical shorts -- probably as a result of losing the right to make more Roger Rabbit cartoons. The end result was Runaway Brain, an "edgier" Mickey cartoon that is really surreal to watch. You can see it right here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jKCmDL3HINU

Disney didn't release this thing on home video for a long time, and even when they finally did, it was only in a DVD set marketed towards hard-core collectors. I think someone must have realized that maybe, just maybe, making a cartoon that trained little kids to scream in horror at the sight of Disney's second favourite children's cash cow was a bad business move.

last i heard they need anywhere up to 2 years just to render out the frames for these movies!!! that means that if advent children was released early this year (2006) they actually finished building it in 2004, and the gap in between was just time to use massive server farms to render out frame after frame in order to get the 24x60x100=168,000 frames (proabbaly more) needed for a 100 minute movie. thats a bloody lot of number crunching smile.gif

and it looks sweet for it doesn't it?

I just got a whole heap of Dave Chappelle episodes and some of his live stand-up stuff as well. Awesome stuff.

i just watched Take The Lead starring Antonio Banderas as dance teacher Pierre Dulaine. Its based on a true story. Only watch it if you like dance type of movies with a feel good theme. Kind of like Dangerous Minds.

Synopsis
Pierre Dulaine is a Manhattan ballroom teacher and competitor who volunteers his time to teach ballroom dancing to a group of New York inner city high school kids. Initially forced to participate as a form of detention, the kids reject Mr. Dulaine's efforts until his unwavering commitment and dedication finally inspires them to embrace the program, infusing it with their own unique hip-hop style while subconsciously learning valuable life lessons about pride, respect, self-esteem and honor.

Also watching Fearless...again. I love this movie and its got Jet Li in it. The choreography of the fight scenes are awesome.

After that I have, I'm gonna watch Naruto: The Movie 1 and 2. Then I'm gonna watch all 3 Blade movies back-to-back biggrin.gif

I have to disagree with the hills have eyes things... dead boring, not even a little bit scary and completely unbelievable... schlock scary movie at it's best!! So disenchanted with 99% of the crap they put out there these days... about the only half decent thing I want to see is the Simpsons movie (if only to shut toby up for a couple of hours!) and happy feet (which I will NEVER see - fraking penguins *runs to corner and cries*)

i prefer international films there usally very enjoyable (if you dont mind subtitles)

OLD BOY is my favorite film of all time. its a japan film and is the ultimate revenge film with many twists. it has some shocking scenes and the best ending.

i strongly recomend people see it.

also pulp fiction and the alien series are amongst my favs

Also saw Rob B Hood a few nights ago. Jackie Chans latest addition to his line of movies. A straight to dvd release to combat piracy and sold at a very cheap price to combat Triad involvement.
[attachmentid=3182]
The film is an action comedy about three robbers who kidnap a baby. For this film, Chan wanted to play a full-fledged villain, but Chinese censors rejected the original script. So, In the movie, Chan portrays a gambling addict who kidnaps the grandson of a tycoon for ransom, but ends up as a hero trying to protect the child from the mob.

The film follows a group of thieves made up of Thongs (Chan), Octopus (Louis Koo), and Landlord (Michael Hui). They steal for different reasons. Thongs is a compulsive gambler who faces debt collectors at his door. Octopus spends his fortunes to court a rich girl. Landlord does not spend his loot, but saves all of it and keeps it in a safe in his house. After Landlord's house was broke into and all his savings stolen, he was desperate to regain his fortune and accepted a job offer that will pay him in huge sums. At the same time Thongs and Octopus were both in desperate need of money again, and they went for the job without knowing the details. Only after breaking in did they know that Landlord was asked to steal a baby, and return it to the baby's alleged grandfather, who is also the head of a Triad. When they were on the way to hand over the baby, they ran through a police road block, resulting in a car crash. Landlord was hospitalized and kept in police custody because of the accident, while Thongs and Octopus was forced to take care of the baby, deciding that it will be best to hold on to their prize before the Landlord is released. They faced challenges from all fronts, including the Triads, Thongs' creditors, Octopus wife and of course, the baby they've stolen.

we tried to watch snakes on a plane over the weekend but it broke our DVD player! we watched barnyard first (nothing special there - a handful of funny one liners don't cover a generic story), so moved on to something we hoped to be more interesting - but about 7 minutes in the disc just froze. nothing would work so took it out and tried again - would not even read it. now the damn thing won't read any disc - dvd, cd or otherwise!

It's got Leonardo di Caprio and Billy Zane in it (among a few others who I don't know the names of, but recognised) ..

I'm too lazy to type up a synopsis of the movie (because there's A LOT in it) .. so here's one I stole from IMDB:

"Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, Blood Diamond is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) - a South African mercenary - and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) - a Mende fisherman. Both men are African, but their histories as different as any can be, until their fates become joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon - who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields - has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory, a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have."

It's only good because of the main actor, otherwise it's fairly linear - like the Transporter 1 and 2 .. it's the protagonist that makes the whole movie.

[attachmentid=3331]
Synopsis
When two gunmen from Hong Kong are sent to execute a renegade member trying to turn over a new leaf in Macau, they are thrown in a dilemma when two of their former comrades also show up, intent on thwarting their mission.

It turns out the five of them used to be buddies-under-fire in another mission years ago. When the mission appeared to be accomplished, one of them was discovered to have betrayed their boss and the others were asked to eliminate him. They let him escape in the end.

While the four former comrades are reminiscing and negotiating what to do with the buddy whose life they have spared once before, a fifth gunmen suddenly appears out of nowhere and takes the renegade out instead.

A final showdown ensues amongst the five gunmen.

Awesome story line and gun battles galore. The choreographer makes the gun battles seem like an art form. Its only in Cantonese but worth watching if you like Hong Kong Cinema.

Went to a movie marathon as a last minute decision last night and here are the results!

Eragon - Terrible. So, so bad. Words can't even describe how stupid most of the bits of the movie were.

Epic movie - 20 mins max of laughter and the rest of it was boring as bat shit. But I hate movies like scary movie and not another teen movie etc etc.

Night at the Museum - decent movie if it weren't for Ben Stiller and his nonsensical rambling speech things that he does in every movie he's ever been in and makes me wanna thros daggers at the screen etc etc.
