Dear Anthemites.

the time has come for me to get a "big black dog" as SMP said. I was getting Angel, my sisters maltese x shitzu, but I think I need something bigger.

I want something that will be territorial, protective, but good with kids. I also want something that will not require too much attention/company, as I'm not home a lot.

At the moment I'm thinking a labrador. But, as I've only ever had border collies in the past, I really don't know what to get sad.gif

Can anyone make any suggestions?

Its depends alot on what sized yard you have and whether youll have time for walkies (or a young neighbour you can bribe to walk you dog for you). I used to vet nurse & ran behavioural classes for dogs.
In regards to the temperament my best advise is to let the dog meet your son before you agree to buy it as some dogs as fantastic with adults but scared/aggressive when it comes to children.
Puppies are alot of work & will probably trash your yard if left alone for long periods of time. Older dogs wont have as much energy but may have underlying behavioural issues (there has to be a reason their previous owners are getting rid of them).
Every breed will have hyperactive dogs & ones that are happy to just lie around so unfortunately theres no sure fire answer as to which breed to get. Youll just have to shop around until you find the right one, although if you have any questions about certain breeds just PM me & ill fill you in on general temperaments & problems they may have. wub.gif

why shouldn't you pay it, your GF entered a carpark full of signs and neglected to pay, its someones property that you are parking on and they can charge what ever they want, if you don't like the price you leave and don't park there. its like refusing to pay at UPark or any other parking places that are not council!!
*

this is a little different in that it is a known scam going on around adelaide so any notices of this kind issued should really be checked with the adelaide city council first and if they advise that it is not one of theirs a complaint should be lodged about the issuer of the fine given that they are issuing them illegally and have no right to post such fines but do so purley to scam money off people. The property they are issuing their fines on is most likely not theirs and they have no right to implement parking restrictions that have not been authorised by the council, in which case the fine would be a council one not this dodgy organisation's one.

froggy i think it was oldskoolie who had mentioned it before it's been on other forums before and everyone agrees - DON'T PAY because it's not legit. But make sure first it 100% isn't a Adelaide City Council fine because they can get you in trouble!

thanks hun, I appreciate it!! I'm kinda hoping to get a dog thats around 6-12 months old... a little out of the real puppy stage. We have a massive back yard at the moment, but the bock is being subdivided in about 10 months... so we'll lose half of it, but it will still be a decent size.
froggy
fair enough i just think eveyone should check it out themselves as laws change and things like that.
I know a few people who have been wheel clamped by them because they have not paid fines and they have to pay to get the wheel clamp off and they have checked with the council and the other authorities and have been told that the property is either owned by them or the owners ask the compnay to let it out for parking at a cost and they are allowed to charge. My advice is to check for yourself and not take advice of public forums.

Dear anthems,

Its a well known fact that everyone makes mistakes in there life, some big some small some not even worth the hassle. I how ever have made the biggest mistake in my life that has affected a couple of people but more so someone that has done nothing but be kind hearted, caring, sweet and helped me help in such a big way. I have really hurt this special person and i dont know what to do to make it right sad.gif

Any help is much appreciated as i really dont want this person being so upset hurt and angry. I was wrong i know i was wrong and all i want is things back to how they were sad.gif Anything at all please sad.gif

The realistic thing is that you cant turn back the clock and what has been done...HAS BEEN DONE. The only matter of recourse is to sort this out in person with the person in question. If he or she doesnt want to, then leave it be... for now. Time will tell whether friendships can be mended. There is no use to pushing yourself through so many emotions. You've done good by admitting that you were wrong (for whatever reason) and by publishing this apology/regret for all to see. You can want this person to stop being angry, sad and hurt as much as you want but you cant control his or hers emotions. It just takes time.

I dont know what the reasons behind your posts are but for you to have published it for everyone to be able to see and admit that you were wrong in a public forum, is already a very good start. Its going to be up to the other person to decide whether to forgive. The reality is harsh but thats the truth.

My apologies if I'm brunt but I dont know what your situation is. I just tell it like how it is.

Good luck with it. PM me if you need to talk smile.gif

alot on my mind of late... and now.. a receding hairline!
asianfunkphenomena
Join the club Craig...my hair has been gradually receding for the past 4 to 5 years now and I used to have long hair as well. Its so much better short and the ladies love it.
mich
but if you cut your hair craig there wont be any more random ass grabbing of red headed strangers thinking they are grabbing your ass!!!

... seriously though, cut it if it's giving you trouble... if you think it is the cause of your receding hair line remember that nothing looks worse than a half bald guy with a long straggly pony tail... not hot!!!... so you will have to cut it sooner of later... think of your over all hair health and if its healthier to cut it do so!

.. and on the subject of hair... I was thinking of putting a colour through my hair (blond) just to give it a bit of light (looking pretty dull and boring after the long horrid winter and I want it looking nice for the next few months special activities) can anyone suggest either a really good hair dresser who wont make my hair go green or bright orange or a really good home colour I could try out??? I'm looking into the possibilities of footwear design, and I'm wondering if anyone out there has some advice for me, particularly in terms of employment prospects. I don't think so!?

I think slutty implies "will sleep with anyone", where as promiscuous implies "sleeps/has slept with alot of people".

4. Consisting of diverse, unrelated parts or individuals; confused: “Throngs promiscuous strew the level green” (Alexander Pope).

See... promiscuous = SLUT. smile.gif
KandiRaverr
I was so sure there was a difference there! hmmm...

So then... what would you classify someone who sleeps with a alot of people. But doesn't give it up to just anyone? It wouldn't be a slut.... coz there are would be some standards there...
ike_vinylr
There is a large difference between having a promiscuous nature and being a slut. First of all, slut shouldn't even be used as a term, not by a girl, and definitely not by a guy. It's insulting and derogaratory, and you'd feel awful if someone called you by it. Second, being promiscuous is not by definition a slut. To be slut is to be someone who has so little regard for their own body and who they sleep with so that they might as well just walk around with no clothes on. it's a pitiful position to be in, and thus deserves your pity, not your hatred. Being promiscuous is no crime by any book (especially not mine) If a person has an extremely healthy appetite for sex, this is their own preoccupation and once again should not be frowned upon. The difference between the two terms is choice. Someone who is a slut doesn't care who they sleep with, someone who is promiscuous chooses carefully, just chooses a lot of the time. So remember these words before you start throwing those terms around...you might end up hurting someone.

indiscriminate does not mean chooses carefully. as far as i and the DICTIONARY are concerned promiscuous and slut are one and the same...

Greetings All I.T. aficionados & laptop lovers...yeah yeah & u mac ppl too wink.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif
Im in the market for a new laptop.. im looking around 2K upto prob 2.5K MAX if need be..was wondering if any of you out there have any recommendations based on your own experiences as to some suggestions good or bad with regards to whats out there in laptopland atm. I realise that everyone looks for something different in a lappy... all i'm looking for is a decent machine that has Intel Pentium Core Duo, 15.4" display (preferably, no smaller as the one i have atm is 15.4 BUT am open to suggestions) no less that 80GB HDD & has wireless & bluetooth. Being able to connect to a monitor thru VGA would be a plus/borderline prereq as i can plug into the plasma at work for presentations n shit. Inbuilt camera would be a bonus but not prerequisite but a fer ive looked at in that range have them so?? um I dont play games on it but watch DVD's occasionally, i use it at home for net chatting, downloading n shit, burning DVDs & CD's & working from home. I also take it to work for powerpoints & excel crap, hence the need for a lappy not a desktop..
Im open to all suggestions, all brands, everything & anything.
Any assistance & advice received is greatly appreciated!! smile.gif
Thanx HEAPS in advance!!

i don't think its the amount of sexual partners one has had.... but more how many they have NOW.

Take a 25 year old woman, who, in her 9 years of being sexually active has had around, say 50 partners. Averages out at a little over 5 a year yeah?

Take a 20 year old girl who's been sexually active for 3 years, and has reached that same 50 partners. works out a little less than one a month...

I'd not really call either of them sluts.

Then take an 18 year old girl who has been sexually active for 2 years, and since turning 18, has been frequenting the night clubs, taking a different guy home each weekend.

I still wouldn't call that a slut.

What I'd call a slut is:

Someone that comes on to anything and everything... sits in a booth at a club pashing 3 different guys, does the same next week with a different group of guys, quite openly asking randoms if they think she's hot... generally acting like a whore... constantly taking different guys home... coming on to friends boyfriends, coming on to her BOYFRIENDS friends...

I think you get the idea wink.gif
KandiRaverr
yeah.. i agree with that description of a slut!

i just don't think you would classify someone who is promiscuious that harshly.

I don't want to buy another one. I spent $120 on buying Symantec/Norton, for it to NOT work. The software was corrupted.

I am now disenchanted in buying ANY software, understandably.

Just wanna grab something from the interweb that I can use for free, that will do what it's meant to do until we can afford to buy a new computer.
AnGeL^EyEs
did u take it back and get your money back?
{Bunny}
We took the first one back and exchanged it.

You can't take software that's been opened back and get money refunds unfortunately. The most they can do is exchange it for the same product.

We could have got our money back through Symantec themselves but lost the receipt sad.gif

This is a good question for you Jas... what is the benefits of digital audio output? I have the socket on my sound card on my PC... but what do I need for digital audio to work and what are the improvements?
455Pontiac
ahh digital audio - the signal is raw, which means there is no loss of signal between the card and the output (amp/speakers). Also depends on your source - lot of stuff out there in lossless format (usually when albums are converted to mp3 there is a loss in conversion - anyhow I degress). Mostly the connection is a coaxial (coax) cable which you can buy at any Harvey Morons. Other more advanced cards may use fibre optic cable to connect to your amp. Some graphic cards are now using HDMI (high definition multi-media interface) which uses a single cable for both digital audio and video output. Back to your question what outputs to you have on your card? If you have coax (or rca) then you need to connect that to your amp, then speakers. This may mean a number of cables depending on the "channels" ie left right, front rear etc. If it has optic output just means your amp should have output input - one cable. Confused? laugh.gif Hope this answers your question dude.
overdose
My Sound Card (Sound Blaster Audigy) has a Digital IO Output

And the speakers are the Creative T900 7.1 Surround Sound, I don't know on its input man but I know both the sound card and speakers are designed to work perfectly with each other, even with digital

ok to answer your original question sounds like ur card handles the digital audio output. You just need to hook your speakers up and everything should be sweet!

On your P's if you get caught speeding.. whats the max km's above the speed limit you can be caught at before you lose your license?

I'm not sure if it varies from the full license or not...
455Pontiac
...well for full licence if you are doing 45km/hr over the posted speed limit that is instant loss of licence for 6 months, and a hefty fine.

I think you only have limited points on your P's - you have 12 for full licence - so any speeding would mean loss of licence as they would take those points?

3 points for speeding, and 1 point for breaking your P conditions. You only have to get caught once speeding on P's and you lose your license, doesn't matter how many km's you are over the limit.

SA speed tolerance is set at 6km/hr - they sensibly give you the varying percentage due to tyres, manufacturers etc

If there are two cars in the picture they cant fine either as they have to positively identify which one was speeding. You can request the photo if in doubt and challenge it.

Or, if not, it's about to...

Yeah I think it might be 4kms now, for fixed camera's. When going through red light/fixed cameras you should ALWAYS go under the speed limit, if you know it's there then don't speed... there are signs before the cameras anyway so it's not like they don't warn you, in fact, they HAVE to warn you
