I want to be able to surf the net anonymously and do some proxy voting for some of the links in my sig. How do I surf the net anonymously? I've downloaded some of Firefox's Proxy extensions like switch proxy and stuff but find them very confusing to use. Does using anonymous proxies slow down the rate of surfing the net and download rates as well?

ohh yeah one thing i forogt

make sure u have folders shared otherwise all u will see is like printers and faxes in the other computer... and im sure u want to be able to access more than that

www.gamecopyworld.com thats ur best friend... also alcohol 120% also your best friend... u may still need to crack the exe but it will be to remove the copy protection rather than to be a nocd.

best way i did it was found one i liked online get the web address of that one and then in your avitar thing say use that link ... works a treat for me... unless mine isnt animated and its only animated on my screen... then i dunno what im doing wrong either

when u find an avitar u like right click on it and click on properties it should give u the link
then all u do is copy that, then just paste away in avitar settings and ur set

sure its a gif?
might have something to do with the size restrictions. needs to be a certain amount of pixels squared. the screen where you load the .gif into will tell you the maximum size for it.

yea you could but you would be splitting the speed in half, if not more cos of extra overhead, it is more efficient on broadband connections but to do this i strongly advise you get a good firewall.

if you, or anyone else, decide to go for a wireless connection i advise you to go for WPA-2 as i've seen my boss crack WEP in 5 mins and WPA in under 30...

the following guide assumes the incognito fix worked for you

1. on the first pc navigate to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections

2. right click "dialup connection", select properties and go to the "advanced" tab.

3. Tick the "allow other users to connect..." box and click OK

4. still on the first pc connect to the net and go to Start -> Run and type in "CMD" and press enter

5. type at the prompt "ipconfig /all" - take note of the DNS servers, there should be 2 or 3, you only need the top 2 - ignore all the other numbers.

6. on the second pc go to where you changed the ip address to 192.168.0.2 and make the "Default Gateway" the IP of your first box - 192.168.0.1 and enter the IP of both DNS Servers.

note: DNS = Domain Name System, this resolves a name to an IP, i.e. anthems.com.au resolves to 202.174.32.106 - for reasons i'm not going to go in to this won't work if you put it in your browsers address bar but you can try http://209.237.226.91/ it's the same as http://www.erowid.org/ i find the second one easier to remember

without this system the entire internet would crash - yes hackers have tried to crash it

they came so close too...

this fix will get you connectivity but not security in any way, please ensure both pc's have a good firewall and not just the in built windows one, i recommend ZoneAlarm.

Should I turn off my firewalls? Or could there be a program thats intefering with my net browsing? Theres no spyware and stuff coz its all beeon checked and deleted by 4 different programs.

no.. your CACHE has the cookies for yoru websites your auto log ins etc...

so now u have to re log in again and create new cache files for your sights.,., and u might notice page s oipen slower now aswell.. as they arent 'cached' on your PC

hmm the files are probably in a hidden folder

in your explorer go Tools > Folder options > View and then click the button that says show hidden files and folders then click apply > ok and try again

p.s. i hold no responsibility for this not working, it has worked for me on several different occasions but i work in IT and may have accidentally left out a simple step. if you get in over your head gimme a call and please keep your credit card close at hand...

p.p.s. to my knowledge this works on both releases of windows XP, both standalone and volume licenced key versions. i am unsure if this will be the same for Windows XP Homo. I have done this at least 15 times in the past year on many dif XP Pro machines and it has worked every time.

gigabyte S tpye motherboard (it says the best one for gaming on the box)
leadtek winfast px7950 gt 512mb vid card

what I (i want ur thoughts on this!) think i would need to play crysis on max settings:
amd 6200+ (someone said it does not exist)
4 gig high end ram
xfx 8800 gtx 768mb vid card
and i really dont know what screen to get but i want it to be 24" and i want it to be the best quality avaible....whether it be HD????....HDCP????....BLURAY???

i know the cost for most of this except the screen and the 6200+
so if u think that system will be kik arse for crysis plz pm me and let me know
maybe u think its a horrible idea and i will just be wasteing 1000s of dollars.....please i want ur opinion cause yous know more than me and i really want the best possible system for crysis

Your comp will already run it

amd 6000+ (cant find 6200, probably not out) cpu, this is 3ghz dual core, very nice = $349. I would say go for this, waiting for a 6200+ for only a 300mhz or so speed increase isnt really worth it for now.
4gb corsair ddr ram, this is running 800mhz, = $1000
8800gtx 768mb, looking at about $1000
your screen is already pretty sweet, personally i think its a bit of a waste to only upgrade to 24" from 22", but 24" = $1200

if you didnt get the screen, youd be paying about $2500, pretty sweet

although you'll probably need a new mobo which will set you back another $300 or so...

might find cheaper prices somewhere else, i was just looking at photech cause its my nearest shop

screenwise, i would probably look for an lcd tv and plug your comp into that, for the size, its a lot cheaper. (32" screen with HD resolution = $771, off ebay though...but still, can get them cheaper than a lcd pc monitor).

do you know when crysis is coming out?

First off...your current 22" screen is more than sufficient to play any game.
Your CPU will last you a while and because it's an AMD (coupled with a good quality motherboard) you will be able to overclock quite a bit. Just make sure you add more fans and maybe a water cooling system as well.
The 2GB RAM should be sufficient enough but at 2GB more if you can.

What you're currently running mate should be sufficient enough and isnt worth the upgrades just for one game alone. Try the demo version of the game on maximum settings and see how you go. It's basically trial and error as some areas of your computer and its resources can be tweaked to play the game.

The edit button is only there for a short amount of time, then it dissapears. it's so that you can't erase and edit posts after they have been replied to or post's have been made after them. otherwise reading them get's confusing and doesn't make sense.

Either get a mod edit it, or write a new post with the correct information/links in it.

We use our EHD for pretty much everything. We have a copy of all the programmes we would need to reinstall if we had to clear our computer and start again. And we have all of our music, pictures, photos etc on there.

We just think it makes things easier for when you do decide to clear the computer and start again. Then everything can just be re-installed from the EHD.

I'm not sure on differences and such but we just find it easier. It's just like a stack of back up CD's all in one

yeah s-video should work as long as ur pc video card can take the sound - just fixed a friend's trying to use s-video and found the card wouldnt take audio - but u should be right if it is a recent card - hopefully no macro code freaks the screen out!

I have a NVidea Ge-force 7600GT ... I got it in December last year, it's quite recent. When I plug the S-Video connection from the PC to the DVD player and put it on AV, all I see is the DVD screen, not sure what to do, messed with the video card settings a bit but dunno how to get the PC screen to show up on the TV

Dude - just quickly checked ur specs on ur card - that s-video is output only. U need a tv input card to capture to the pc, then use the video card as the output. What's the problem with ur tv?

depends on what u want - good ones come with media centre remote or similar - good ones can also capture hdtv but you can pay anything from $100 to $200 - Hauppage are a good brand
